What f ups? The models called for millions of death...we will likely not even see 60k. That’s an amazing job by the president

 

Florida's Governor issued a State Wide Stay at Home order and he explicitly credited Trump's more "somber tone" press conference as the reason that he did such.

 

I agree and the predictions have changed drastically due to the President’s amazing response. Millions of lives saved!

 

A) The models predicted those two million deaths as a worst case scenario over the course of the entire epidemic based on zero compliance. We have currently seen ~35,000 dead over the course of three weeks based on a mixture of compliance.

B) It makes zero sense to me to praise Trump because of theoretical lives saved from a model because only 35,000 have died in three weeks.

C) Here is a non-exhaustive list of **** ups - with sourcing.

Trump and his political appointees repeatedly lied about the virus: 1 and 2.
They repeatedly downplayed the threat of the virus: 1 and 2.
They repeatedly touted the benefits of the virus: 1 and 2.
They repeatedly contradicted health experts: 1 and 2.
They repeatedly placed the lives of Americans at greater health risk: 1 and 2.
They repeatedly slowed the start of testing because of ineptitude and political self-interest: 1 and 2.
They dismantled the epidemic response team, attempted to cut health budgets, and dismissed the expert on Chinese Viruses: 1, 2 and 3.
They repeatedly politicized the virus: 1, 2 and 3.

 

Millions of lives saved? You are praising Trump for the saving of theoretical lives while 35,000 real Americans have died in three weeks.

 

What other mistakes did he make ?? He followed the advice of the US medical experts. Is that the mistake ??

The NYTimes article below is more than a month old but the WHO epidemic modeling teams had concluded then that travel bans had slowed the spread of the virus.

more over dr Fauci is an expert and not a political appointee and as late as feb 29 he was telling Americans they had nothing to worry about, and didn’t need to change their daily behavior. Is he not an expert? Should the President not have listened to him then?

If Trump can be blamed for taking lives then Trump can be praised for saving lives. There is the same amount of DIRECT connection to Trump for both. Which is absolutely NONE.

 

Dr. Fauci repeatedly and explicitly said that the threat remained low so far and that the situation could change very rapidly. Trump said at the exact same time that the situation was completely under control.

The pandemic team being disbanded has not been debunked. The team no longer was a singular and self-contained unit, but instead was absorbed and made part of a larger group.

 

The Governors of Florida and Georgia refused to issue Statewide Stay at Home orders until Trump specifically changed his tone.

And the NYC mayor as well as many of the liberal cities and states imposed stricter epidemic response plans earlier than those suggested by Trump.

And again, it is wholly idiotic to claim that millions of lives have been saved because 35,000 have died so far.
