3% mortality rate has been debunked countless times

No one is going to change your mind so ...whatever. But I find your attitude incredibly short sighted and self defeating

Um . . . back when Trump was trying to keep people calm the leftist-allied MSM were essentially saying, "Panic, because we are all going to die!" The push for a panic is all from the political Left.

The federal government is not and has not been trying to scare us. It is the media , and dare I say this, Democratic mouth pieces that are doing the best they can to scare us. It is generally blue state govenors and blue city mayors that are mandating draconian measures to supposedly protect a population that is at minimal risk.

    Huh?

    7,157 Divided By 182,429 = 3.92%.

    7,157 IS 3.92% of 182,429. Period.

    ^Simple Math.

Why are you talking about "denominator"?

Not one of the industries that is going to be hit hardest then.
I'm a chef in a local pub and Boris came on TV today to tell everybody that they need to avoid ''pubs, clubs and theatres'' for up to 3 months.
Luckily, I live rent free in a motorhome on a friend's farm so I won't starve or get evicted but I'm expecting to be out of work for quite a while.

How many cases haven't been tested and thereby not included in the denominator? That would skew the percentage downward.

I work on critical power equipment. I usually work by myself and my job shouldn't be affected. I do have to travel and stay in hotels still. If I pick up the disease I may have to avoid my family.

Middle school math: rate * base = part (r*b=p) p/b=r

    Do the math...

You probably won't find it yet.
But it's probably safe to say it's similar to Korea.
    upload_2020-3-16_17-59-22.png
Keep in mind this is of people that have had it.

Didn't it seem strange to you that the death rate went up 24 in one day when there were only 57 in the prior 15 days?

If we had more than enough test capacity we could go to a hot spot and take a random sample then we would know from antibodies a lot more. Until then Korea and China are probably the best source of data.

    Actually, currently in the U.S.
    That would be like 1.8%.

We would know that if we had enough test kits wouldn't we?
You won't know that number until there are enough kits available to test random people to se who has antibodies and who doesn't.
Korea will probably tell us soon.

I live in Oregon in a politically mixed area southwest of Portland.

There has been some panic buying going on recently, but I think it is already abating. Last night about 8:30 p.m. I went to the supermarket to buy some ice cream, and the place was completely normal.

Since you're so fond of Vox!

    All fear mongering aside :)
80,000 Americans died of the flu last winter. Get your flu shot.
That’s more than the number killed in traffic collisions, from gun violence, or from opioid overdoses.
