Why shouldn’t Bowman be charged with disrupting congress the way the January 6 protesters were?

How honest of him to plead guilty to doing what he was on camera doing! While we are bragging about him, why not add his excuse.

 

Democrats were filibustering while saying their staff needed more time to read the bill. Then he evacuated the staff reading the bill giving them more ammunition to delay the vote.

 

New video shows that Bowman took the signs down, pulled the alarm and never attempted to exit through the door. He also didn't appear to be in any hurry. Now what would be his motivation for doing something like that? Surely folks are not still buying his explanation are they?

The Cannon building is where House Representatives and their staff typically work. Some Democrats went to the House floor to filibuster, but their staff stayed back, combing through the CR looking for things they may not like. The filibuster was based on the fact that their staff hadn't had enough time to fully review the legislation, but it seemed like some of the far left (like Bowman) just wanted a shutdown with the ability to blame Republicans for it. Democrats on the budget Committee issued a summary, but many House Democrats didn't want the vote to occur. It's presumed Bowman felt pulling the alarm might have helped them get more time or delay to the point where the vote couldn't have happened within the limited remaining time to get it through the Senate and a signature before a shutdown.

Bowman clearly wasn't acting rationally. He went to the door, removed the emergency exit signs, pulled the alarm while still holding one in his other hand. And then ran away to another exit in the building. The video shows he lied saying he was trying to get out that door and that he knew it was a secured fire exit. He pulled the alarm immediately after the Democrats on the House floor failed to pass a motion to adjourn which would have sent everyone home without a vote, forcing a government shutdown.

 

The term "MAGA" was fed to people to rebleat for the purpose of demonizing those with different beliefs. It has nothing to do with the topic, but I am used to seeing tanTrumps in unrelated topics.

Back on topic, I don't buy that he didn't know it was a fire alarm. The consequences seem reasonable.

A new video that just surfaced shows Bowman taking down signs stating the exit doors was for emergency use only and then he proceeded to pull the alarm and walk away. If he wasn't attempting to disrupt the House while they were in the process of voting to keep the government open what was he doing?

 

I think the fine should have been higher at least. What he did was wrong, period.
