No one should cooperate with a political witch hunt such as this. It’s fascism.

If the woke left can selectively choose to implement the law, why shouldn't DeSantis? Besides in extradition hearings those who are being asked to extradite have to be convinced of the legitimacy of the prosecution and New York falls hugely short of those standards.

Which is why this is essentially an empty gesture by DeSantis. It's canny on his part, appealing to Trump's supporters whatever happens.

True, but it's just another nail in his coffin with Independents long term, many of whom can recognize BS when they see/smell it...

When did DJT flee from the State of NY?

Of course not (party before country) but his cooperation won't be needed because Federal agents can pick him up

He moved, before any indictments. That's not "fleeing", that's called moving.

Quickie definition lookup of fleeing = to run away, often from danger or evil

    Works for me...

Doesn't apply. He left the State prior to the indictment, so he wasn't fleeing at the time. I doubt Desantis will have to block extradition. Getting booked is the perfect opportunity for Trump to gain more voter support. This was another mistake, in a long list, of Democrat's overreach. It will backfire on them.

There was danger for him in NY long before this indictment... he knew it, although I suspect his primary reason for moving was probably golf weather...

But, as you say, this thread is a non issue for Mango.... Just another tick mark against Meatball for failure to understand the basics of US law

Speaking of understanding basic law, the premise of the OP is false. DJT did not flee from NY.

Yes, he figured that such comment would score a point for him among his base, which is probably true,

This pure political theater from DeSantis. The Trump legal team has already agreed to surrender of the DA gets an arrest warrant.

He will have been deemed to have fled if he doesn't show up voluntarily at his scheduled arrraignment...

But as long as we are in agreement that Meatball has limited understanding of what is possible here, it's all good...

I know, because of the deep seated hatred for DJT, that people will contort the meaning of words to support a false conclusion, but for now they haven't successfully redefined the word "flee". They can issue a court order for his appearance, but he can resist the extradition order (it's not automatic and State Governors have resisted them). However, as soon as he set foot in NY, he can be immediately arrested.

Trump should refuse to leave Mar-a-Lago, as DeSantis allows the presence of a "MAGA.Moat" to prevent Trump's Arrest...
Trump becomes Florida's version of Julian Assange, while Ron D. Steamrolls to the Nomination (b/c Trump can't leave his Mar-a-Lago Exile to do live rallies)...

Just pretend Florida is a "sanctuary city" of sorts and then *poof* there goes your outrage.

A: He won't be found guilty. They barely got the Grand Jury to indict, and a half-ass DA can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich.
B: Should I be wrong on A, it's only a misdemeanor, unless things changed overnight. I don't have the nooz on.
C: If Mr. DA is trying to stretch it to a felony, as I understand things, that would put it into Federal jurisdiction, and the Feds have already taken a pass on it.
D: Even if I'm wrong on all of the above, for a first time offender, he'll get a fine of a couple hundred dollars, and some community service time. I think serving as POTUS would count.
E: I think the indictment will probably put Trump back in the Oval all by itself, no matter what happens in A-D. It's over, and that's disappointing to me. I damn sure don't want Biden, but I also am not a fan of Trump, though I give him credit for finally putting some originalists (or textualists, whichever you prefer) on the Supreme Court. For what is probably the first time in many, many years.
