Does a woman's right to sex outweigh the right of a fetus?

Having an abortion is the result of responsibility and thinking about the consequences of giving birth - Do I want it or do I not?

You cannot murder that which has no rights.

Repeating it does not make it so.

Religious people view life as inconvenient and miserble and that actual life will begin after death. They are death worshippers who even regard inconvenience as virituous.

They are anti-life and that is why they are always moaning about "she is doing it for her own sake". For someone who is actually pro-life - in the truest sense of the word - it is very hard to understand why they are even using this as an argument, as if rationally prioritising convenience is a bad thing.

A 15 year old girl is experiencing love for the first time and starts exploring her own body and sexuality and ends up pregnant. What do you tell her? That is an evil person who should be punished for her "sins" and face the consequences? Doesn't that imply motherhood is a punishment? What if she is your sister, daughter or girlfriend? Is a 15 year old really ready to be a mother?

An ambitious woman who just started her career and has big dreams and is being hardworking and productive to reach them ends up pregnant. Should she sacrifice her dreams for motherhood? Why? What if she was your sister, daughter or your partner? Would you really tell her she is an irresponsible slut who now has to give birth because that is her duty?

A poor single mother who is already struggling to feed her two children and make ends meet gets pregnant again. Should she give birth to another child making life even for miserable for both herself and her children? Or would it maybe be better for her to not have another child?

"They should never had sex in the first place." Well, why the heck not? What about a woman enjoying and pursuing sex is it that bothers you so much?

The most vital body part when it comes to choosing parenthood is neither penis nor vagina, but actually the mind. Parenthood is not something you "just accept", it is something you carefully consider, choose and pursue. Sure, you may argue sex should be too and I agree, but just because a woman ends up unwillingly pregnant it does not mean she was not being rational in her choices of whom to sleep with.

"""What about a woman enjoying and pursuing sex is it that bothers you so much?"""

    I think that's a key to a lot of what's posted here...;)

And yet babies can't be created unless it's through the practice of a very specific action.

So if I take away a person's rights I can murder them then? I guess what's happening in China is fine then?

    Ok.

    It's murder btw.

What part of a 'fetus is not a person' that you do not understand?

The part where you claim it's not a person.

Then I cannot engage in discussion with someone who doesn't understand that very basic concept. You are entitled to embrace your ignorance, but the rest of society does not need to pander to it.

It's as though their entitlement to put 'fun' first, is teflon coated. Any attempt to address it just slides off, and they revert to the indefensible position that women are incapable of making grown-up choices. And worse, they say things like 'why should she have to', as though we're all spoiled three year olds who shouldn't have to give a crap about the harm our choices cause. It's a horrifying mindset in an adult.

OMG ... I laughed loudly at your example, BB.

You've just painted a picture of a women with absolutely terrible habits and values. Habits and values SHE chose, knowing the potential problems it could bring to her life.

We all weigh risk when we choose our actions. At least, responsible adults do. We do as much as possible to reduce risk, and adapt our behaviour accordingly. Dragging out examples of those who do the opposite (no risk amelioration at all .. which is irresponsible and dysfunctional), just backs up what we're saying.

It's not even about her 'right', it's about the fact that she knew going in, that she would not retain any pregnancy. That's a morally bankrupt position in ANY light.

Ya sorry. Is it human? Is it alive? If left to develop will it become a full grown human being?

    Yup! Yup! Yup!

Convincing yourself it's not alive so you can morally get past the dispicable act with an ignorant but clear conscience is where I draw the line.

You are not going to convince me it's not a person. And further more to your logic I doubt you can pinpoint when it starts becoming a person with any real logical consistency

    Thanks for playing

    I'd like to answer

    1) No. I've made mistakes, but never of the variety which involve harming innocents
    2) Never been more than tipsy, and only EVER at home or the home of a close friend or relative
    3) No
    4) No. I never drink in public
    5) I would never have relied on a fallible contraception during fertile times
    6) Absolutely no

NO WHERE did that poster say it wasn't alive....

    Like misquoting what others say..

When it can get a SSN....or be counted in the census...ALL when it becomes separate from the woman....and only then..

Oh FFS, FA .. we're not discussing RAPE victims. You've long since run out of ammo, so either surrender or move on.

But you don't think women do. Why are you making them an exception?

That know .. they're just so wedded to the idea that abortion is a kindness, that they have to scramble to find perverse examples, and run around ignoring the fundamental questions.

Oh .. right. You must be totally okay with people knowing they may do harm, but going ahead with the action which will lead to it anyway. Nice.

I DON'T. I think women know exactly what they're doing, when they choose to risk a pregnancy.

It's you guys who think she can't be expected to grasp such concepts as cause/effect.
