Another point worth considering. Not only was this vaccine developed in record time, it is a revolutionary new concept. You can argue that is what it allowed it to be developed rapidly. However, revolutionary new concepts also require a lot of study to make sure there are no unacceptable side effects. That part of the process could take years. This time, the approval process concluded that any risk associated with using a revolutionary process is far outweighed by the potential benefits. That is what cutting red tape does. You can be so careful that nothing ever gets done.

I would be a bit more careful about calling someone a liar.

Thats a fair statement. Many if not most voters know no more about what they are voting for than the few words underneath the circle they color in. Researching every candidate, judge, measure, etc, takes hours. Personally, I do not believe society is better off convincing these low information voters to vote.

My goodness. The Republican argument is simple. Citizens exercising their right to vote equates to “cheating”.

For years undercover of bogus election fraud claims they’ve connived to exclude citizens from exercising their right to vote.

Their efforts to suppress citizens their right to vote pre-election was unsuccessful and that is why we’re dealing with this post election exercise in sedition.

The “wrong” citizens exercised their right. They lost the election by 7 million votes while winning the majority of the white vote. The transparency in this exercise in sedition is illustrated by the specific areas targeted for disenfranchisement within the swing states.

The Republican Party is simply the rebirth of the Confederacy.

Dumb take. This about the multitude of lawsuits by democrats to change election laws before the election and carried out by non legislative entities. This about the multitude of illegalities observed during counting.

The Confederacy were democrats. Nice try but no cigar.

I can understand suspecting fraud as an initial reaction to seeing the numbers go down. But a bit of research and reflection should have dispelled that. I'm sure you're aware by now that Trump discouraged mail-in voting, while Democrats encouraged it. It was predictable that Trump would do better on in-person voting and Biden would do better with mail-in.

It is normal to accept election results without much other consideration.

What's different this time are allegations of corruption. But allegations are just....allegations, and Trump alleged there was corruption months before a single vote was cast. That had zero foundation in evidence, and it positioned Democrats to expect spurious allegations. The flip side is that it positioned Trump supporters to be suspicious of everything.

Looking a bit deeper, we see a massive number of allegations. Trump supporters consider the sheer quantity to be evidence of actual corruption. On the other hand, Democrats point out that there has been nothing but failure in the courts. Democrats believe the system is working in this respect, while Trump supporters expand the conspiracy to include judges.

I have tried looking more deeply into the allegations than most, and my observations are: many Trump supporters have irrationally assumed a conspiracy theory. Once a conspiracy theory is assumed, it is incorrigible. Every irregularity, and every naive suspicion is deemed proof, and every problem with the allegations is ignored, dismissed, or rationalized. Media analysis of allegations that demonstrate their error get dismissed in the basis that the MSM can't be trusted, and they are in on it.

Reason and rationality ought to be the arbiter of such differences of opinion, but when one side of the opinion is grounded in an irrational conspiracy theory, reasoning with them is impossible.

I have not doubt Biden won. I also have no doubt there was some fraud. I do not know how much and neither does anyone else. I would like to see Trump concede now and then spend the next four years doing a comprehensive review of the election and the voting process so that we can go into the next election with confidence.

Trump already did that with the 2016 election, then when he found more Republican fraud in his favor than anything else, he canceled it

if anything, it's unrealistic Trump got as many votes as he did in 2020, he must have cheated - we may not have proof, but we don't need proof anymore, do we?

That did not happen. States would not provide the information required to do an investigation.
