    Actually, this is what weeds out credible media, from fly by night, toss S$%t on a wall and see if it sticks media.
    Libel is a thing, and this should be Trumps rebuttable...Of course after his supporters "donate" to his defense, I have a feeling this will be settled, if not dismissed further down the line.

    How would he "overcome" the public figure aspect? Why should he be able to? Do you think a long established principle of defamation law should be ignored just because it's Trump?

    That wouldn't really be "overcoming a handicap" though, it would be actually proving his case but since it's questionable whether any of the statements raised would even count as defamatory in the first place, that is likely to be a moot point.

    You stated that your religious beliefs command you to a particular moral position regarding betting and gambling……….yet that same moral position permits you to salivate all over a man who treats women like disposable coffee cups, who has been reasonably accused of sexual assault, who brags about grabbing others’ genitalia without consent, who pays off porn stars to silence the evidence of his adultery, who regards marriage like a revolving door, who has lusted over his own daughter, who has been successfully sued for his fraudulent business behaviour…

    Truth is a defense in a libel case. What CNN says about dirty donny bonespurs is true, so they really have nothing to worry about.

    Well, he is using his small donor monies as pocket change and he likely owns a few lawyers so he's just fill his and their pockets while he wastes the courts time. The grift goes on...
    He'll never actually physically make it into court in this case.

    All he has to show is malice. And I’m fairly certain if you looked through CNN emails… malice in regards to Trump wouldn’t be difficult to find.

    He wouldn't only need to show malice. He needs to show that CNN made specific statements of fact that are demonstrably false, that they knew (or had good reason to know) were false and that caused measurable harm to Trump personally. As a public figure, he also needs to show malice.

    Well I was referring to the getting past a public figure issue. All he needs to show is malice there. Which wouldn’t be difficult to find in CNN’s documentation I’m pretty sure.

    Insofar as them telling a blatant falsehood, I don’t think that would be too difficult to find either. But we will see how careful they were.
