No we won’t “see” anything in the context of this lawsuit because donny doesn’t have the courage to file it.
His announcement is just a tactic to fire up his gullible supporters and encourage them to hand over more of their cash to him.

To lie, you first have to know the truth/facts. Trump often makes up his own truth/facts. So the question is, does Trump even know what the real truths/facts are? If he does, then yes, he is lying. If he doesn't, then with his long record, he has an obvious nebulous grip on reality and needs help.
Either way there is something wrong with him.

    "Wouldn't be difficult"?

Umm, you have no idea what you're talking about. It's a very high bar, and arguing that reporting on the Orange Stain accurately even comes close to meeting that bar is facially absurd.

Fair enough. As I said to Jefferson, that wouldn't be "overcoming a handicap" as he framed it, it'd just be a natural part of Trump proving his case. I feel the concept of "overcoming" implies he felt it was an unjustified condition to be worked around.

I'm not convinced. Scanning through the (I'm sure intentionally) long document published, all of the examples seem to be variations of generically using the terms "Big Lie" or "Trump's lies" (often in the context of specific dismissed cases or quoting the words and opinions of others). While demonstrating malice might well be relatively easy, I didn't see anything specific enough to meet any of the core elements of defamation, so it would be moot (and would be unlikely to even get to discovery).

It also strikes me as very similar to Trump's repeated statements that CNN (and a whole load of other organisations) are "fake news". If their statements about him were defamatory, I'd suggest he would be just as guilty.

Well, you can tell that just by the headline in this very thread.. In Breitbart, he announces he "is" suing CNN. In Every other (IE legitimate media), it's a threat.

I can't find it today, but I'm pretty sure I read there's some deadline of this Sunday for CNN to take a knee or it's full steam ahead.

If I were CNN, I'd issue the following statement:

"We're very very sorry.... that you are such a big liar"

There was a famous episode of Law and Order in the mid-years, where a local mob boss pretends to be nuts to avoid prosecution....

Naturally, they bring in Dr. Skoda to make a determination.

In the end, somebody tricks him into revealing he's totally aware... Our boy has MAJOR mental issues, but he's technically sane...

Thats literally the public figure defense

Why would they be liable to the "higher standard" against him ?

The guy is a clown show, and he did it in public. The man verifiably lied thousands of times during his presidency.

    About the same.

On the other hand, something like this would take a little longer

Sounds like CNN is taking a hard pass on apologizing or retracting call T**** a liar or using the Hitler-esqe phrase "The Big Lie".

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-lawyer-vows-sue-cnn-031306491.html

Link includes some information on this weeks fly-by-night T**** attorney for this matter. Shocker alert - She's from Floriduh and sounds like another "environmental lawyer" out of her depth....

It's been well documented that Sidney has a talent for fudging. She's about as competent a lawyer and she is a human being.

The pinnacle of entertainment would be Trump's deposition.
He probably thinks he'd be entitled to answering written questions, like he did for Mueller.
iirc: There were like 39 questions that he couldn't recall or a similar answer.

CNN surely smartened up after hearing this.

    July 27, 2022

'Louisville, KY – A federal judge tossed out the defamation lawsuit brought against five major media companies by former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann.

Sandmann filed lawsuits against The New York Times, CBS News, ABC News, Gannett and Rolling Stone magazine in March of 2020, the Associated Press reported.

He was seeking $65 million in damages from The New York Times and $60 million from CBS News.'

    Yep CNN sure did lie.
Their fact checker said trump had lied or was deceptive 32,498 times during his presidency when the truth is it was only 32,497 times.

The picture you posted is an example of the key difference though. Sandmann had actual evidence that what as reported about him wasn't true. Trump does not have a evidence of anyone conspiring to steal the election from him.

Color me chocked that Trump is suing someone. He is the most litigious person n the planet.

    That litigation serves 2 purposes:
    1. Keeps Trumps name in the media (fame whore)
    2. Make money off of the publicity it generates

He knows he cant win, and in New York thats all he’s been known for his entire career, which is suing people for dumb things like this. He is a public figure as the FPOTUS, and that legal designation affords him the legal status of “public figure”, which negates his legal standing here.

The guy is a GD clown show.

Well, he hasn't sued anybody yet.... so far, it's just a toothless threat.

Now that the retraction deadline has passed, we'll see how they back off from doing it...

Probably just claim that CNN retracted something, when they clearly won't....

Here's a humorous take (is there any other kind?) on the current clown lawsuit threat

Still hasn't happened.... But I'm still hoping!!
