Genitalia vs Chromosomes: what makes you male of female?

What if you're born with a penis but without the Y chromosome necessary to make you, not just a boy, but "male"?

 

It represents a larger population than the entire trans community itself. Me included. What you believe doesn't matter. Reality says you are full of ****. The number of intersexed people is between 1 and 2%.

 

For medical conditions which are caused by or largely composed of delusions the solution is to bring them back to reality

My paragraphs were not contradictory even slightly. Just like those on the left have an opinion on this subject, so too do those on the right. One side does not have a right to assert that people with different opinions on the subject have no right to that opinion.

I have every right to express my feelings on the subject as do you.

Stop bogusly pretending like it is only the left that is allowed an opinion. To whatever extent that you assert it is not my business, the same principle applies to you.

What if you're born without that condition and you're born otherwise medically totally normal?
Then what? Then if your gender isn't determined by your genitalia why would you seek to alter your genitalia?

 

It's not a delusion, it's more of a dysfunctional desire, but even if it were, I'd defer to the relevant professional bodies of doctors such as psychiatrists.

 

Reality says when you have a penis and testicles you're a male and reality says when you have a vagina and breast and a uterus that you're a female.

And your feelings don't change facts. And that's reality whether you like it or not. It is not altered by your opinion or your perception unless your opinion or perception is in line with it

So if I want to identify as someone who is two decades older than than I am? Who are you or anyone else to tell me that I'm not in my early 60s instead of my early 40s?

If I want to identify as an oak tree who are you to tell me that I am not? A certified psychological arborist?

What "opinion" are you talking about? What opinion does the left have? Unless you consider the fact that I said that people should not be demonized because of how they deal with the characteristics they were born with. The opposite of that is not an opinion. It's just bigotry.

About 1 in every 100 people are born with some form of Difference of Sex Development (DSD).

 

We have been through this before. Your basic physiology including your genitals and your chromosome determine your sex....NOT your emotional state or your feelings.... That's just delusional magical thinking and contaminated thinking.

 

So? What makes it a societal issue how people are born? Maybe I don't know what you mean by "societal issue". It's a PRIVATE issue that the right has used as one of the ways they express their bigotry. So we make them aware that it's normal. But what they do is none of society's business.

Expressing bigotry is protected by the Constitution and by Forum rules, if that's what you were referring to. But NOTHING I have said is an "opinion".

 

No, people should not consult biologists to treat psychiatric conditions. Their roles are very different.

The paradigm for medicine is to help the patient, not determine reality. This is exactly as it should be. Lots of people in their 60s try to seem and feel younger by putting on makeup, coloring their hair, getting botox, whatever. They're not delusional about getting older, they just are happier if they can look a bit younger a bit longer. It's in some ways similar to gender dysphoria in the sense that it's a dysfunctional desire, though gender dysphoria is usually a more serious disorder I would say.

 

So it was the perfect illustration to answer your disingenuous question as to why it is a societal issue.
