That is simply wrong. This is how it works.

The intruder may be deterred from trying to enter your house because of the possibility of you owning a weapon.

The intruder may be deterred from trying to enter your house because he knows you have a gun.

The intruder enters your house, but does nothing when you confront him with your gun.

The intruder enters your house and tries to harm you with a gun or using some other method. It is then and only then that you actually use your weapon.

What you are claiming as the likely occurrence is the last resort. Your comment only shows your ignorance of the subject.

No. This discussion is not about me. But I understand why those who have no arguments would like it to be.

You turn on the lights in your house because you fear the dark. You have clocks in your house and wear a wristwatch because you are terrified of being late. I rarely even see my guns. You wear a wristwatch all the time.

What is real is an intruder trying to break into my house. He does not have to have a gun to do us harm. I am at least fifteen minutes from law enforcement responding. By the time they get here, my whole family could be dead and there have been break ins in our area.

I am sure you have heard the expression. When seconds count, law enforcement is only minutes away. That is literally true.

This discussion is not about me either, but you claimed I own guns because of fear. I am no more afraid than you are, likely less from what I hear.

Because I don't care. I research about the points I make.

Look, you are obviously obsessed with my sig. Desperately trying to find something I say is wrong. But that would only work if you find errors in my real arguments about my real point. Not about nonsense. I don't give a crap how many gun stores there are in Florida. My point is, obviously, that there are too many, and guns are too easy to get a hold of. If you have anything to say about my point, say it!

But if you get hung up on pettiness, you can discard any hope that you will ever be considered a serious poster.

Where have I mentioned "illegal immigrants" or the "government"?

423 million guns? That's close to 1.3 guns for every man, women and child in the country. The highest in the world by far. No wonder we have the highest gun related death rate of all developed nations.

Unfortunately, death rates are not something that gun advocates would consider a problem.

Here is another one who has been obsessed for a long time trying to find some mistake in minor side-comments. Seeing they can't argue my main points, they look for pettiness that is so unimportant I wouldn't waste a minute researching.

But not my point, which is (in that part of my post) that there are too many gun stores in Florida, and guns are too easy to acquire. To make my point I could have said "there are more gun stores than alligators". And you would have spent hours researching how many alligators there are in Florida, instead of spending the time to research if I'm right. It's just an expression to mean "there are too many". A variation of the well-known expression used in countries that have high education levels and small (or no) armies which is "there are more teachers than soldiers". Or one used everywhere "there are more X than stars in the sky"

I think I'm going to keep in mind that you waste your time researching pettiness and start throwing in more irrelevant comparisons like that. As a matter of fact, let's change it to "there are more gun stores than stars in the sky". That should get you out all night long to count stars.

Not very efficiently. Almost as likely to kill the shooter than the victim. Those are easier to deal with.

I can't imagine some drug addicts who ran out of cocaine, and decide to rob a store or invade a house for money saying "Hey! Let's order a pistol making machine on Amazon with same-day shipping"

But did you notice you didn't answer my question? Did you delegate on others to answer it for you? If so, they did a terrible job. None of them, so far, actually understood what we were talking about.

The missing link is also unwaiverable.Until Leftist can drum-up
examples of NRA members being shooters of fellow humans
{ Like I dunno most Saturday nights in Chicago } then Gun Control
is just a tactic for Democrats to inflict pain on Those patriotic
americans who play by the rules, pay their taxes, work hard and obey
cops.BTW Gabby Giffords was a proud Gun enthuthiast until Pelosi
and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz got a hold of her. They wasted no time
in making sure they were at her bedside in order to change her mind about
guns.Which they did.Which is explainable but not proper.
However what is not explainable is how Gabby and Hubby
Mark Kelly own guns for Recreational purpose. As of April,2013.
Colorado is also Home to where Gun Deniers gather for stricter
    gun laws.

Do you ever read posts from your side in this forum? Or, for that matter, right wingnut media? I'm sure you do and that your question is disingenuous.

As far as I am concerned, a gun is to prevent the infringement of free will, whether that comes in the form of criminals or oppressive governments. And because target shooting is fun as hell of course. Free will is something that should be protected at every level of society, but I believe it must start with the individual, or else the foundation that free will is based on is not solid.

Sure, there are some loons on both sides of every argument. That doesn’t negate the good reasons to have a certain point of view.

I'm not discussing how it works. I'm discussing how it would be better for it to work.

I have seen no data showing that there are less robberies in this country than in other industrial nations with strict gun laws... or to support any of your claims. Provide references.

You're not getting it. It's not even a resort if nobody has guns.

My question has nothing to do with calling you a "coward". "Fear" and "cowardice" are two completely different things. It's interesting that you think they're the same but... they're not.

So you didn't answer the question. And I suspect it's because of this confusion you have.

Ok, if you want to call concern, or planning ahead fear, then, yes by your definition gun owners feel fear. But by that definition, I see it as perfectly reasonable.

I don’t have to research your mistakes Golem. Anyone with basic understanding of firearm ownership in the United States knows these facts. That you continue to post false information and then call that information fun-fact is just amusing. You like to say you comment on amusing posts—well, I like to comment on your amusing/bizarre posts.

If you really wanted to be taken seriously, you would not post so much content that is demonstrably and obviously false. We recently had a president who was seldom taken seriously because much of what he said was incorrect, misleading, and ignorant. When you demonstrate most of what you post is similar to that President’s twitter feed, people can’t really take you seriously either.

I’ve told you before, if you don’t want people pointing out your falsehoods, all you have to do is stop posting falsehoods. It’s your choice to pontificate on things you know nothing about, but on an open forum it’s everyone else’s right to point out and laugh at your ignorance. When you post false information and then whine about people pointing out your errors, you appear even more Trumpish. It’s hilariously ironic and great entertainment—as well as great education for third parties who see the dishonesty of the anti gun position demonstrated over, and over, and over.

Just for the record, I did not comment on number of gun stores in Florida. LOL

Just for fun ... Give us One Trump Policy that was One bit misleading.
Let alone Ignorant. We are living proof that Trump Policy were spot-on
very American and The Right thing to do.
Biden Policy isn't even a joke.It is deadly serious and obviously Harmful
to American Citizens.Defunding police.Racking up massive Debt.
Allowing Migrant Illegals caught to stay in the Country { Not be deported } and
then testing positive for Covid and allowed to travel by bus to whatever
city Democrats have a mind to.
Take away the most basic Right of a Free Republic. To speak
their mind.Biden's loonybirds just lambasted The New York Times for their
slight criticism of Biden Border Policy.
So much for having a Free press carry yer water 110%.

Yes. But the fear that majority of the fear that is perfectly reasonable, and which is shared by both gun owners and non gun owners... is mostly the fear of guns.

And that was the point i was making on this thread. The rest is fear-mongering. So again, my point:

Mental issues + Fear Mongering + Guns... is what has created the "gun epidemic". And unless somebody can invent a machine that detects and solves mental issues, and unless the NRA and the gun industry stop appealing to fear mongering; the only element we can address is guns. As I said before, it's a process that could take decades. But we have to start somewhere. And, at this point, we're going backwards.

So you again responded to a post without knowing what it was about. No surprise. It's what you do. What is a surprise is that I even bothered responding to it. Won't happen again. Not answering inane posts that do not address the substance of my arguments with real counter-arguments anymore.

I guess we'll have to remain in disagreement with how the process should play out. I believe that society has to be fixed first, and then then the violence goes away. Until that point, I will retain the ability to secure my own free will and physically defend myself and my family from those that are suffering (mentally ill), criminals, and an authoritarian governement (I do not think it is authoritarian, but there is always potential for it to become so).
You think guns should be removed immediately to remove violence. The problems I see with it are that the underlying causes of the misery that leads to gun violence will be less visible, and so will have less chance of being addressed. People will still be miserable, attacks and violence will still occur, but it will be less newsworthy and out of the public eye as the weapons of choice will be knife and bludgeoning rather than guns. Another problem is that the act of removing guns will likely lead to multiple armed uprisings, possibly even to civil war. leading to death that makes the occasional mass shooting seem petty.

Anyways, those are my views. I'm sure we will continue to go round and round with these arguments in this and other threads. Which I suppose is why we are here, to give and be exposed to other ideas that we may or may not agree with. I don't think either of us are changing our minds with this one though, lol.

You just responded to my post saying it was about numbers of gun stores when it had nothing to do with gun stores. LOL

Your level of self unawareness is staggering.

And I know since you know nothing about firearms you are unaware the information I provided is very relevant to the OP. The information I provided is the basis of how we deny prohibited persons and mentally unstable persons from purchasing weapons. That is the subject of the OP. LOL

If your disinformation is not part of your argument, LEAVE IT OUT of your post Golem.
