You are wrong. The government since 2008 is a BIGGER THREAT to U.S. citizens than even "robber barons" of the early 1900's. At least the so-called robber barons managed to create the greatest economic growth in U.S. history. Obama's economy is the least growth in U.S. history, compare and contrast. Big government and heavy regulations equals low growth.

Society can impose no responsibility only force to make someone obey.

No one ever felt a part of society as you imply and in fact the lower the place on the food chain the more the feelings are the same. A poor man may treasure and value what he has as strongly as any rich guy.

Claiming such responsibilities and laws is merely a straw man for justifying theft

Neither did a lottery winner they both still have the right to it.

The very concept of earning something is subjective

You feel what cannot be proven through any means which implies you just do not like that others have it.

there is no evidence such a society cannot work only platitudes that it could not work

I understand your position. Are you OK if all the inherited money goes to building a northern and southern wall?

Here is the "progressive viewpoint". (this term by the way, is idiocracy in purest form)
    The International Workingmen's Association

    Report of the General Council
    The right of inheritance

    Written: by Karl Marx on August 2 and 3, 1869, endorsed by General Council on August 3, 1869;
    First published: in the pamphlet Report of the Fourth Annual Congress of the International Working Men's Association, held at Basle, in Switzerland, 1869;
    Printed according to: the pamphlet.

Amazingly- a large number of highly successful businesses have been started with minimal money. In my case, just my weekly paycheck- no savings, no loans. Search for a list of businesses started in a garage, and see a host of names you know and see everyday.

Having money does not compensate for not having drive, ambition and goals- but drive, ambition and goals do compensate for not having money. Money can be obtained- from starting small, by taking an investor or partner, by borrowing, etc. But NONE of those of those alternatives will get you the ambition and mindset it takes to get the job done. That is the big difference in those who succeed and those who coast along complaining that because they aren't rich they can't get rich.

Opportunity is everywhere- far moreso than high goals and ambition required to take advantage of it; far less than the number of people who walk right by it and never see a thing.

So- your view is that self-respecting parents would have all their money buried with them and leave their children in poverty- perhaps dependent on the public dole? Or perhaps, give the money to you, because you would use it more wisely?

So your saying that, you don't mind going thru all that to give yourself and family a better life only to have some leftist make the determination as to how you forward your wealth! That is the discussion here, right!

Ill just SAY the talking point, so you don't have to.

Give poor folks a million dollars, and in a week, they will be broke and looking for their next handout, while if you give a rich guy cancer, a million in debt, in a week he will be giving a million to charity.

Your example is 100% false as it still is the question of whether or not your father is entitled to his money, and therefore to do with as he wishes. His estate does not automatically go to his children. It only goes to his children if he wants it to.

Thus, it is still the same question. Who is entitled to your father's money? Your father to do with as he wishes in his will - or the government to do what it wishes with his money.

With the OPer adds the word "earn" to it, actually that word is not part of the real question. The real question is shorter: "Who is entitled to my money? 1.) Me or 2.) You.

What you really mean is steal a million dollars and give it to poor folks... or more specifically the shorter "steal money via government from other people and give it to you..."

I understand that about 1/3 of the Walmart employees have a low enough income to qualify for food stamps, and the Walton family is worth 40 billion or so. Did the Waltons earn all of that wealth or did a lot of poor and middle income families make it for them. What is right and fair? What is in alignment with our "Christian" values?
Did Trump earn all of his wealth? How much of his wealth was "donated" by unpaid contractors?
How many people have risen to wealth accompanied by successful associates and financially comfortable employees? What is right, fair and good?

Like so many threads, this one also confirms that essentially at the grass roots level most Democrats are anti-capitalism socialists. However, the American Democratic Party actually has become the International Corporate Fascist Party.

The best way to advance that political party shift to being a globalist party of the super rich elites is to make as many people as poor as possible, but allow them to survive off crumbs from the government forcing them to vote socialistic hoping for a few more crumbs.

For example, one of the socialist members of above has posted dozens of messages and started many threads sobbing and raging in self pity of how the government doesn't give him enough money, even that the government is trying to kill him by not giving him enough money. He also has stated he wants enough money from the government to by personal use toys and more leisure. What you will not find is even one message of, instead, his having any interest whatsoever in trying to obtain money himself by work. Rather, he demands that everyone else work and thru the government give him their money so he doesn't have to work and can more enjoy a non-work fun life.

For this, he will of course vote for socialism ever chance possible, believing this will get him the most of other people's money. We know how that turns out from Venezuela and other socialist countries. Yes, most the rich are broken or flee. Everyone then is equally impoverished EXCEPT those in the government and military.

You know what I would to see? A business owner do 100% of all the work. Run their own factories, package their own product, etc....and still become a billionare. It's not possible. A small business owner who does it can not compete and makes little in profits.

The workers are the backbone of any business. Any owner of a large company who says they built the company is a liar. They STARTED the company. It was their workers who built it up.

Take Steve Jobs for an example. He may have started Apple, but he did none of the work that made it as success. He barely who how to use a computer. Steve Wozniak and other programmers are the ones who did all the work, and without them, Steve Jobs would have never made a single penny.

You mean the WalMart that both millionaire Michelle Obama and millionaire Hilary Clinton was on the board of directors of, correct?

    1. Point to ANY occasion where either Michelle Obama or Hilary Clinton so much as hinted that tax breaks to WalMart should be eliminated? Never happened.

    2. Point to any evidence that any of Donald Trump's employees have been paid so low that they are on food stamps? Never happened.

But I am 100% certain you supported WalMart's super rich Michelle Obama and super rich Hilary Clinton, while cursing Donald Trump - claiming HE is the evil rich guy. That is accurate, isn't it?

And all of those founders (quite a few of them) are rich beyond their wildest dreams. Tell you what, dismantle Apple, fire all of those workers there now and tell them you are responsible. Let us know how that works out. :roflol:

Since when is your American dream nullified when someone else freely gives their wealth to their kids? If you want more, go work for it and mind your own business.

I'm not trying to rip on McDonalds guys, but I once informed a friend of mine that another local retailer was hiring at the time for positions for $5 more than he was earning at the time! He looked me straight in the eyes and said "That will just mess up my welfare benefits and put me in a higher tax bracket"! Also he didn't much like the idea of a 40 hour work week either, but his main concern was Tax bracket and welfare benefits! We later did a couple World of Warcraft raids that took around four hours, where he was in familiar company!

Leftist and their leisure time, it's important to them, more so than money ;)

There have been owners who in their will or otherwise entirely turn the business over to the employees - who form a committee to run and manage the company. They all go broke quickly.

It is common for employees with no management or ownership experience to think what they specifically do is what makes the company work - when they have no clue. Without Steve Jobs there would have been no Apple and Apple employees would have just been employees somewhere else - if anywhere.
