There are finite resources available with which to create wealth. No matter how ambitious and mentally capable some people are, they will not be wealthy. The system does not allow for everyone to be wealthy. The notion that everyone can be wealthy if they just work harder and sacrifice more is a lie.

That isn't to suggest that people shouldn't work hard and sacrifice to get what they want. The reality is that the majority of people will not move up in economic class, and more people will move down than move up.

So you have no real rebuttal to that? Why do you think anyone would take your opinion as credible when you cannot attack the issue and instead result to attacking me?

Since the obvious facts show that no finite point of wealth is anywhere in sight, why rebut a statement that has no basis in fact. We have much more wealth than we had a few years ago and we WILL have much more wealth a few years from now. There is no possible claim that wealth IS finite. I said that we humans do not have the vision to see if wealth is finite or infinite. So far over the centuries of humanity there is no indication of a finite point. So I see ludicrous claims of 'not enough wealth to go around,' to be excuses conjured up by losers. If someone says I'm as wealthy as I ever want to be, FINE, they picked the point they wanted. When someone says, "I couldn't become wealthy because this or that or they prevented me." That is making excuses.
Why am I doing very well but certainly not filthy rich? Because I went as far as my ability allowed. I didn't get filthy rich because I lacked the ability to do so. I got to where I got because of my ability, I didn't go any further for the same reason.

There are a lot of less fortunate people that cannot compete. Being rich is a race that most will lose.

You can do the race again and if everyone was extremely ambitious and really good at what they did and made no mistakes, there will still be losers in the race because that is the nature of the race.

Simply being really smart or ambitious or even having some wealth is enough to win the race. It is about being smarter and more ambitious and having more resources to work worth than the next guy.

    In america today,

The poorer families usually stay poor and the richer families usually stay rich because the poor families start further behind in the race.

A poor mother cannot teach her child a lot of skills because if she had them she would not be poor.
A poor father cannot put his child through school to teach them skills because if he had money, he would not be poor.
A poor mother cannot make her kids healthy and strong with a strong body and mind, because if she had good food she would not be poor.
A father cannot give his child wisdom and knowlege because if he had it he would not be poor.

The child is ambitious and wants to make something of himself but his body is weak from hard labor, his mind is withered from lack of use and malnutrition from his childhood. His body is thin and broken from to much use and lack of nutrition from his childhood. His skills are small and not wanted by anyone. He has no knowlege to sell and no wisdom to spend his money wisely. His chances of being something some day are small and insignificant no matter how hard he tries and no matter how amitious he might be.

I have pointed out why wealth is finite. Wealth is based on how much you have. The earth is not an inifinite amount of resources and every object made takes away from those resources. Eventually those resources will dry up and the wealth of the world will dry up with it.

Well, its not my fault or my neighbors fault, or my neighbor's dog's fault, or Uncle Sam's fault, so really, whose fault is it? I'm not rich, but it is the OP's fault.

2007 16,000,000 millionaires in the USA. 2011 10,000,000 millionaires in the USA. What is their FAIR SHARE of the loss?

You should contact Microsoft and apply for employment in their technical support area. You give technically accurate information that has no practical use to anyone. They have to train their tech support people to do that. You come by it naturally.

I don't determine fair. I only care about what can give the most amount of americans an equal chance at gaining knowlege and skills (what i believe is necessary for equal opportunity). The rest of what they may want or need is up to them to figure out. I also care about economic strength for the country and equal liberty for all.

You seem to think in absolutes. You think only in black and white while the rest of the world is gray. Your logic runs in a straight line never straying from a set path. Do you know that nothing in the world is absolute and that there is a lot more to the world not on that path you are so set on?

Just some more technically accurate information that has no practical use...

Intelligence if the ability to gain knowlege. Reasoning is the ablity to use it. It is not my fault that someone does not have enough reasoning to find use of the knowlege I give them.

You are NOT giving any knowledge [its knowledge, not knowlege] when in your first para you state that you believe an equal chance at gaining knowlege (sic) is necessary for equal opportunity. You believe that and you are wrong. More knowledge should be a help. But many, many have done extremely well with little or no formal education. Relying on education to PROVIDE equal opportunity is relying on a crutch and building in an excuse to fail.
The equal opportunity in the USA is provided by LAW. The ABILITY to take advantage of equal opportunity cannot be provided by anyone but the individual.

I'd be less worried about taxes and more worried about Congress forcing tax-deferred retirement accounts to be invested in government bonds. It'll probably be some percentage at first, but it'll go up.

Resources are not the sole source of wealth, nor, when they deplete, does wealth become diminished. Entrepreneurs find alternatives and find ways to provide those to people. In return for their success, they earn the profit from their risk taking. That's how wealth is created, and it's only finite if you attempt to stop it by prohibiting profit.

    The answer is:

14.3% of the US pop. is living below the poverty line. Whatever the percentage of that group is children, I don't know. But less than 1% of the children of that group are undernourished. Almost all the children of that group are FAT! Poorly nourished, but OVER nourished. Statistically, starvation is effectively zero in the USA.

If poverty was defined as the inability to feed, or clothe, or shelter themselves. Poverty in the USA would be zero. The only people unable to get food, clothing, and shelter in the USA are those that are mentally unaware that they need to do those things. That is a medical problem, not a poverty problem.
