You used to think that murdering children is wrong even if God supposedly commanded it? You should come back to that. Meanwhile, I used to think the same as you: that evil is okay as long as God orders it. I no longer subscribe to that cosmic fascism.

I don't believe that this particular God exists. But the way he is described and believe in is a characterization of a moral monster. Can we not agree that infanticide and slavery and killing people for disagreeing with your religion are bad things? Seems like we can't agree on that.

Believing in God is like believing in wind. You can't see the wind but you can see the effect. That's the way I see it.

It's like the religious leap of faith in believing each individual owns their own body. You can't prove it, but you can see the harmful effects of theft, or murder, or fraud, or coersion. And you can see that each individual is autonomously affecting the world around them to the effect of consequences.

Yeah, it's a leap. Just a hop for some, half way to the moon for others.

What "I" statement are you looking for? I think it is always wrong to kill children for what their ancestors did to you. I think it is wrong to enslave people. I think it is wrong to kill someone for working on Saturday. I think it is wrong to make rape victims marry their rapists. I think it is wrong to send bears to tear children apart for making fun of someone for being bald. If you agree with me regarding these issues, then you disagree with the Bible.

 

It's only solitaire because you refuse to engage. It should be a simple question: is it okay to kill a child for what their ancestors did, yes or no? If you support the Bible's version of God, then you support far, far greater atrocities than those of the Communists you rightly condemn. I say "If". No, it's not a discussion. A discussion is when I tell you my experiences and you tell me your experiences in return. What we got now is I tell you my experience, and you start leveling accusations against me. You are just playing with yourself- solitaire.

And to answer your question, despite the fact that you have answered hardly any of my questions- It depends on who is doing the killing. I don't have the authority to murder. You don't have the authority to murder. Don't kill yourself over it.
