Well, unfortunately the media exaggerated and misled the public about what those "crimes" were.
But probably a lot of people wanted to be misled and imagine that he had committed crimes that were much worse than what he actually did.

To clarify, I am not claiming what he did was not "bad", but think people are obviously being misled (or are not being honest with themselves) if they believe those things constituted crimes in the totally obvious and indisputable sense that should clearly be punished with prison time.

 

No, it didn't. Info about the crimes, and the evidence in support of the indictments for them, is available to the public. There is nothing misleading about those facts.

 

Actually, that's not really true. Most media articles people are reading have not really presented the people with the facts of the matter.

In the old days, the media would honestly present all the facts of the matter and let people draw their own conclusions.

These days, the media seems to just provide simplified interpretations and characterizations of what they say "happened", and then write about the criminal charges (specific laws) an individual is being charged under, without any real explanation of how the facts relate to those charges.

And when facts are presented, they are often misleadingly and biasedly presented outside of the full context of the situation in which they occurred.

 

Not the country, but to the corrupt system that has attached itself to it.

 

In some ways, criminalizing a legal defense is worse than the baseless charges against Trump. They've eliminated any right to legal representation under the rubric of "conspiracy." This was not Trump's first indictment but it was the most important one because it criminalizes both legal representation and questioning elections.

Anyone who cares about civil rights and the American tradition of freedom should read this post very carefully. These blanket indictments directed toward Trump's lawyers are chilling. It says that, as a lawyer, you should think twice BEFORE you take on a controversial client whose political positions oppose the establishment. If you do, you have a good chance of getting indicted too.

Patriotic Americans will see the problem here, regardless of your party.

Those who are on the far left are what you are. Maybe someday you will wake up, or perhaps your ideology is pure totalitarianism.

I know those college professors were sometimes inspiring. I went to college too, long ago. But there are some of them who are full of manure. Remember that Hitler's propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels, had a PhD. That didn't prevent him from being a $hitbird. It just made him more dangerous.

 

I don’t think many outside of maga think the charges are unfounded. Certainly not if they actually read the indictments.

But politicians were already being targeted for many years. Difference is the others didn’t turn out to be actual criminals like Trump probably will be.

 

I’m happy he got indicted. But conviction is what what be truly vindicating for this country, assuming the evidence is at least as good as I think.

We do suck at getting good leaders. Most of them have been bad. That’s what’s depressing.

If you would bother to get to the bottom of the Russian collusion story, you would understand the point. The Mueller Investigation spent 22 months on it and concluded that there was no Russian collusion. The whole thing was built in a big lie, paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign. This got Trump off on his first big tangent, and in this case, who could blame him?
