Jesus said "render unto Caesar what is his". I believe that. I also believe God instituted the institution of Government to protect the weak from the powerful. Faith in God can not nor should not ever be forced by government. History has shown "forced coercion " by evil men merely to gain power. Wolves in sheeps clothing. No, it is by faith or not at all. We do agree. I just make the case God desires what is best for every individual and sometimes we just don't know. He has set forth guidelines for a healthy society and prosperous lives for us and our children.
    Even you Freshair.

totally agree, if a religion is good, it doesn't need to be forced.... only bad religions need to be forced on people

    good quote

    http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/history_of_the_separation_of_chu.htm

"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.

And I refer to what you call "Religion" as "Faith". Here is how I define the difference. Religion is mankind's effort to reach God. Faith is recognizing what God did to reach me, and accepting the fact I needed Him in my life. Absolutely nothing to do with a Pope, Priest, Minister or even being immersed in water. Though I believe the latter is a sign of obedience in building the Body of Christ.

Yes, but I can elaborate on that....."Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen." Pretty heavy, huh?

No really, superstition has been used throughout human history to explain items they could not explain (such as lightning or the moon) or to give life — or death — meaning.

I don’t think the creation of a fairytale is “heavy” at all — quite the opposite actually.

What constitutes "force" gets more complicated in the case of marriage.
Some could argue denying marriage "forces" something on two people, while others could argue that sanctioning marriage forces the rest of society to recognize that marriage (since there are legal implications, and it will become someone's duty to take action to legally enforce the terms of that marriage).

yes, hospitals would have to allow a husband or wife to visit each other if that is what you mean

renters could not consider a married couple two families and charge extra

I find it pretty interesting that modern Western society seems to be pretty much totally okay with gay marriage now but isn't ready to embrace sibling marriage.

Of course plenty of people will just deny it and claim the two "aren't the same", but they won't really be able to give convincing logical explanation why the two are clearly so different.

I'm pointing out what seems to be mental inconsistencies. And that is because most people form their opinions from emotion rather than honest logical thought and consideration, and apply unequal standards to different issues. People have isolated impressions about what to think about different issues.

Is this opposition to sibling marriage really all about genetics or is that just being used as an excuse by most people?
I note that nearly all of those who are opposed to brother and sister getting married have expressed that they would still oppose two siblings of the same sex getting married.

Would you marry your sister? Would you have sex with your sister? Are you fine with your sister having your baby? Please do tell?

There are two types of people after they finishing the Bible — it either confirms what they have been indoctrinated to believe or it shows them how absolutely absurd and contradictory it is.
