As someone mentioned it really is hilarious to see the true patriots twisting themselves into knots protecting smoke that comes pouring out of factory chimneys and coal plants and affects everyone at the same time trying to outlaw pot smoking which is an individual decision. And again, states can restrict abortion but can't legalize pot?

PS... Yes, I'm being silly, but I know you.

Nonsense. See, there's this thing called being in support of something on principle. You may have heard of it. In principle I would support a total ban on tobacco, despite being a smoker.

I'm sure that they're also fighting hard to end tobacco use.

Yes, perfectly logically line of thinking. Only people who want to do something want that action to be legal ... like all the people who support gay marriage. They secretly want to have a gay marriage.

Don't get out much do you?

Many if not most of those who support legalization do not smoke it or wish to smoke it. Yes this makes perfect sense just as most who supported repeal of prohibition were not drinkers. Yes non users in their right mind support legalization.

If someone is living in a home where they are exposed to consistant smoke I am sure it possible, driving down the road in your car and someone else in their car is smoking, not on your life. As I asked, do you want More Government laws to protect you from bad smells?

You're a deceived right winger. Once you realize that EVERYTHING the Left does and promotes is wrong, evil, and a lie, then everything becomes very clear. They will pressure and pressure you to compromise even if just on one issue, and they've won. My instinct that the Left lies about everything has never failed me, never failed to prove true.

Not true. I don't smoke pot, and I have no intention of smoking pot, but I think it would be very beneficial to this country if marijuana was legalized. First of all, alcohol is much more dangerous than weed, but yet it is legal. Why? It's all political. Marijuana isn't physically addicitive, and it doesn't make you beat your wife or contribute to fatal car accidents killing families. The war on drugs is a JOKE. I'm an educated woman in my 40s with 2 degrees, so I'm not just some "pothead" who plays video games all day. Think about it... Why do you think they legalized alcohol? Because it's beneficial for politicians and consumers! Read on if you like.. http://www.quickiwiki.com/en/Prohibition_in_the_United_States
The War On Drugs benefits politicians, gives people jobs, funds money to the community, etc. It looks like you drank the koolaid. And why do you think there's so much crime? Have you checked out the crime in countries that don't have strict laws regarding marijuana (Amsterdam, Canada, etc)? The War on Drugs also fuels the drug dealers and gives them jobs, when entails theft and murder. Think about it. Do your research and open your mind.

Excellent summary of the Golden Rule ! In cases where the State is trying to make a law that goes outside of this rule it should have almost unanimous consent of the people (80% at least).

    I agree.

It is precisely this hypocrisy that will continue to sink conservatives boats at election time, unfortunately. We, as conservatives, need to focus on getting government OUT of people's lives. And that means relaxing social conservatism across the board.

The abomination of hypocrisy is worse than even a crack addiction; yet, no one but me seems to be advocating for anti-hypocrisy laws or morals testing companies on a for-profit basis and not just drug testing companies on that same basis.

I've got news for you, the left is no more evil and deceitful then the right is. And as long as people continue to treat one side like it is then we're just going to continue to go downhill as a country.

Wrong. As long as you exclude the possibility that one side can indeed be completely wrong, it will be your biggest blindness. Truth is almost NEVER found in the middle of the road where people try to be diplomatic and "reasonable".

how much confidence can we place in the sincerity of the right if they are unwilling to advocate for morals testing companies on a for profit basis under our form of Capitalism.

    1. I don't support legalization of marijuana, but I don't oppose it either. I think it would solve some problems and add others. I've seen enough people that smoke marijuana regularly. They are no better or no worse than people who imbibe alcohol in the same way.
    2. Our society is biased against weed. Most jobs these days drug test future employees (and many drug test current employees as well). Heck, in the local school system, they don't hire people who have nicotine in their system, much less THC.

Hmm, I live a peaceful life away from drug users.....

My rights aren't infringed upon by pot smokers. How are your rights infringed upon by pot smokers? Haven't been able to get Cheetos at the convenience store late at night?

Sounds like time to call your local cops......

Truth and morality mostly exist in those grey areas. Not everything is so cut and dried. Furthermore the more power one side has the less we freedom we all have. What's their to stop them once they have no opposition?

I would to a cigarette smoker. I kind of like the smell of cigars and pipes, so I wouldn't react that way to them. (I also kind of like the smell of pot, it's not unpleasant, but would just rather not have my teenagers smell it, and no, I've never smoked it first hand, but I probably have gotten some second hand pot smoke).

How many cigs at a time was he smoking? I'm pretty good about being able to smell cigarette smoke, and I don't like the smell, but I've never smelled it from the car in front of me. You need to get back at least two car lengths apart. You must be tailgating, that or you might be smelling exhaust.

Stopped at stoplights, jerks holding cigarettes out their window foul the air for everyone. Even my AC sucks that (*)(*)(*)(*) in and I have to smell it. Yes it does happen.
