I fully doubt this happened to your daughter but if it did, it was some idiot who prefers a different type of girl. Big deal. For him to say it out loud, in such a stupid way, is moronic. Chinese girls are not my thing... but I'm not going to say so to their face. Black and white women can be absolutely beautiful.... but Americanized middle eastern women are sometimes incredible. Not to get partisan but there is a segment of our population, full of all skin colors, who force everything to be filtered through the screen of race. We can't complain about it if we're going to keep voting them in.

It's been said already but it's worth reinforcing. The geezers were brought up to develop a schema that suggested only white women can be physically attractive. Along comes a situation where a non-white woman is obviously physically attractive to them. They were in a state of cognitive dissonance. The way to reduce the strain that comes from cognitive dissonance is to deny what is obvious. "She's attractive. But she isn't white. So she must not be attractive. But she is attractive. But she's not white..." Reminds me of a scene in Joe Wambaugh's The Choirboys when a senior police officer who is about to have sex with a female prostitute tells her that she can't be black, she must be Samoan or some similar ethnicity (sorry, going from memory). I am a white guy but I have recently met two Persian women that put all white women to shame except for a handful of pick-of-the-litter white gals. I find most white chicks to be overweight, tattoed, and generally slovenly. And there's just too much spandex going around.
