I'd say it depends on the language and bashing a country or a continent can certainly be an expression of racism or antisemitism.

 

They are by far the most famous and prestigious science awards so your question reveals displeasure with that simple fact more than anything else. Can you suggest any other science award everyone on this thread even knows about?

 

i was on the thread topic. I know (knew) the existing paradigm is wrong and i could care less who gets which awards.

my post was about, the topic and inquiring if anyone even knows what the 'science' of the award means to mankind.

this is true ... but from time to time I DO wonder about the selection of prizewinners ... there have been examples that have been passed over that have made considerable contribution to science - and so I wonder how these prizes are selected. I do not say this to minimise the contribution of people like shechtman, who is clearly brilliant and deserving of recognition - but I also don't know why him winning a prize needs to develop into a "my dick is bigger than your dick" competition.

the peace prize nominations are also very problematic at times.

 

This does indeed seem to be a problem. What matters is that the individual was justly awarded for their efforts, not the religion, nationality or culture the individual may belong to. If one focuses on generalizations more than individual efforts, then one creates the impression that something other than individual effort is involved.

Sigh. He was born in Palestine and studied in America. His major research was done there. Promoting his prize as an ' Israeli triumph ' is laughable. The fact that he's an Israeli national wasn't even worth mentioning.

I can see why the Arab Muslims are so angry at the Jews. The Jews keep winning Nobel Prizes for making the world a better place, and all the Arab Muslims can do is blow things up and hide behind women and children.

 

Splitting hairs ..... after this many pages...and then denying it matters anyway, is what makes no sense.... how many posts along these lines have you felt neccessary to make in order t show that his nationality really really doesn't count....
