    Nobody denies that people with GID have higher suicide rates. It doesnt go away with treatment.

    A conclusion based upon what I could find. Many reports of higher suicide rates among people with GID, always including both pre and post gender reassignment surgery. None of them identifying a reduction or even distinguishing the two. They tried to detect a difference and couldnt find any real evidence that it does. Could barely find evidence that hormone therapy has any effect on psychological well being.

    The above quote from Dixon76710, coupled with the pprevious paragraph's comment of:
    does NOT say to me that the physical gender work "has no effect".

    Further, I'd say that this indicates that a lower level than surgery intervention like delaying puberty might be a very good idea.

    Further, in NO way does this support ANY analysis that gender reassignment surgery, or much less dramatic practices such as minimizing the unwanted gender's attributes is a negative or unproductive practice.

    zFurther, you skip the previous paragraph that makes the OP author's idea of "crafting the mind instead of the body" for GID people as ridiculous as it sounds. The failures with very intense attempts to change a mental male into a mental female seem ineffective, just as attempts to make confirmed homosexuals straight appears to be ineffective:
