Let's get something straight about Hunter Biden's guilty tax charge

Many people file late. I filed late after 6 years, and worked out a payment plan.

the simple fact of the matter is that the vast majoirty of late filers are not charged.

But, Weiss, after 5 years and not having anything to show for that time and millions of tax dollars spent, charges Hunter Biden with 2 counts of filing late, both misdemeanors.

Neither you, nor i, or any private citizen would be assigned a special prosecutor to investigate for 5 years, and be charged with filing late on taxes.

Unless, of course, your name is Hunter Biden.

 

You brought up that people were rarely charged for that offense. I explained why they are rarely charged for that offense. It has nothing to do with equal treatment under the law.

 

Neither you nor I would ever, as private citizens, be assigned a special prosecutor to be investigated for 5 years in search of what, a late tax filing, two misdemeanors which the vast majority are not charged for?

Unless, of course, your name is Hunter Biden.

 

Of the 27 million who get background checks, in 2020, 433 were referred to the ATF, of those about half had cases filed against them, and this doesn't tell us how many convicted.

So, if half were charged, and half weren't, you can't claim that Hunter Biden got special treatment.

But , since few are charged with filing late on taxes, I can claim that he got worse treatment than most folks.

If he was assigned, as a private citizen, a special prosecutor, one that the vast majority of private citizens would never be assigned, I can claim the got worse treatment than most folks.

 

You don't know that, that's pure speculation.
You could have made the same charge against me on the 5th year I didn't file, but I did file in the 6th year.

The absurd charges against Trump and his family have always been baseless, but effective attempts to influence and rig elections.

The salient point is the one made in op. Biden is not getting special treatment, he's getting worse than normal treatment.

You and I, also private citizens, would never be investigated for 5 years by a Special Prosecutor.

We, as private citizens, are not likely to have been charged with a misdemeanor for filing late and paying taxes late.

yet, pundit after pundit on right wing media have been bellyaching that we have a double standard.

We might have a double standard, but Hunter Biden most certainly is not the example of it.

The best example of a double standard is Donald Trump, who, if anyone else has taken an S/FRD nuclear document and refused to return it, they would be in jail.

If any other politician had been caught fornicating with a porn star just after his wife gave birth, then paid her hush money, that would be the end of his career.

I could go on, but, you get the idea.

But, in case you didn't, the idea is that Trump has been getting away with awful deeds for most of his life, and it looks like the proverbial crows are coming home to lay a big one on Donald's ignominious haut coiffure, 'scuse my French.

Millions of people do all sorts of crazy things, don't make headlines and fodder for right wing pundits to dehumanize for political points.

that's how it usually happens for most people, which is to say, millions of people.

It doesn't mean or prove we weren't going to when we were ready, but a letter from the IRS is a nudge.

But, if you really hate the Biden's, of course you're not going to give Hunter Biden the light of day, that might not forward your right wing narrative.

I have never owned millions of dollars in back taxes with questionable income.

How do you overlook millions of dollars in pay.
