The ban in 1997? See chart below. Looks like it declined from 1.49 to 1.00, - a 35% reduction, but IMO its pretty close to irrelevant because handgun ownership was very low to begin with, and hardly anyone was allowed to carry one outside their homes. Also, the murder rate was pretty low to begin with. In US, it was 6.7 in 1997.

I see. Then why is the rate is stabbings higher in US where we are not rendered defenseless? Being prepared to defend yourself doesn't make you immune from getting stabbed. It can happen before you know it.

I don't support banning anything. Is that what you want?

No, it did not. It declined 35%, but I already responded to that, saying the UK ban is irrelevant because so few had guns to begin with and no one was carrying.

Because militia is specifically mentioned, the 2A is clearly meant to say citizens should be armed and organized to "protect local residents from attack and invasion. It also meant physical protection from government overreach"

There is a reason some of that is in quotes...

    1) before FDR-there was no power whatsoever, given to the federal government to restrict what arms private citizens could own etc
    2) FDR's lapdog supreme court ASSUMED (if you read US v Miller you won't find the court actually explaining why the government had this power) that the federal government could regulate or ban firearms NOT USEFUL for the militia-in other words, the USSC created this power
    3) the USSC 15 or so years ago determined that one need not have any connection to the militia to keep and bear, use and own firearms that are in common use

so Militia no longer is relevant. Now if you want to complain that the USSC has "changed the second amendment" you must also complain that the FDR court ignored the Tenth amendment

btw How does someone be ready for militia service if they cannot own militia suitable firearms before they are called up

you do know that the USA had a similar decline and in the USA we authorized most of the citizens in most of the states to carry firearms on their person in public

Yes, I have brought that up with you 5-6 times. We have talked about Chicago, where murder rate was cut in half while they had strict gun control, but I have said we have to look at the whole nation, because murder rates declined across the board with the ending of the crack epidemic.

So, someone brought up UK, where hand guns were banned, and murder rate dropped 35% since then, but their murder rate was very low to begin with, and very few people owned handguns and even those who did, were not able to carry them. That's why I said the UK experiment is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the US.

Gun Free Cities and Zones are common in the US.

Gun control laws kill the innocent.

In fact, all crime, including gun crime goes up as guns become more valuable and effective for criminals after the people are disarmed by gun control laws.
Ditto knife control laws which are common in the US and the UK.

The UK press has confirmed the obvious -- repeatedly:

despite what we hear, none of the leaders of the gun control movement are motivated by a desire to reduce crime. Sure they claim that is their goal, and this is needed to get support from low IQ and low information voters to support their schemes. But the real goal-in addition to pander to those people , is to harass their political enemies while not upsetting major Dem constituencies who find "law and order" to be "dog whistles" for "racism"

Your article is 23 years old. I already provided you the stats, which show their murder rate has declined 35% since then, so why do you keep arguing this? There was a spike 23 yrs ago, and you are using that to argue murders went up, and stayed up, when they have declined 35% since -97. Its not an honest argument. Or why are you arguing anything when I already told you I don't support bans.

Corrupt criminal justice systems are focused more on covering up crime than catching criminals.

    More Inconvenient Truth:

The public are losing faith in the criminal justice system as police workloads affect outcomes, a report finds
Victims are no longer reporting some crimes to police because so many offenders are never brought to justice.

A new report said the public are losing faith in the criminal justice system and have "rumbled" that police do not have the capacity to investigate.
The constabulary inspector said a suspect was charged in just 7.8% of crimes in England and Wales in the year to March 2019.
The Home Office said action should be taken if forces are not performing.”

Banning Guns causes more gun crime. How else can you explain crime soaring up years after gun bans are imposed?

You should support most people carrying concealed handguns.

“In 1997-98, there were just over 4,900 recorded crimes in England and Wales involving the use of guns, other than air weapons. The figure had climbed to 7,362 for the year ending April 2001. Home Office sources have indicated privately that 2001-02 statistics will show an increase along the same lines as previous years. A regional breakdown of the figures show that gun crime is overwhelmingly an inner-city phenomenon. In 2001-02 guns were used to kill 73 people, half of them in London or Manchester.”

Looks like traumatic brain injury was the culprit. The system let this guy down, as it does with so many veterans. I feel bad for him, his family, the victims, and the victims' families. If our government actually gave a ****, this could have been prevented. His family was doing their best to tell authorities he needed help.

Instead of our money to Ukraine and other countries, or supporting illegal aliens, we need to support our veterans and help those with mental health issues. The priorities in DC are so out of whack and far removed from their actual job. But, addressing mental health issues and using OUR money for that does not serve agendas.

It would be better if we started executing mass murderers quickly instead of making up excuses for them.
