I didn't know, i don't read much comics... as far as i know gays in comics were portrayed as anomalous, complexed people. Now it seems they are no more strange all of a sudden huh?

Does anyone other than children and liberals read comic books?

    :(

Yes. It's stories told with words and art. A very entertaining medium IMO.

Id also say that at 31 pages so far, seems this was an interesting topic to many....

Sure, people who like superheroes do. Nothing wrong with that.

And Storm from X-Men, and Bishop, and Luke Cage, Black Panther, Falcon, Deathlok, Ultimate Spider-Man, War Machine, John Stewart Green Lantern, Cyborg, Black Lightning, Static Shock, Vixen from Birds of Prey.

Yes I'm aware some of those aren't big names. Also, every black superhero ever here:

Its killing a lot of history to just erase Steve Rogers from the marvel universe.

I understand the pick though and don't see it as completely racially motivated. On the other hand I'm sure it was discussed. Comic fans (the ones still buying books) are pretty liberal. So backlash against the new Capt America based on race is likely to drive up sales, where a less racially controversial pick would be panned because of loyalty to the Steve Rogers character.

I think you are right about black hero's infiltrating traditionally white superheros identities. Comics are trying to create a more diverse universe of superheros and creating new ones is very hit and miss, its hard to get people to buy the books. Nothing kills a superhero faster than being ignored.

Its a suffering industry, they have priced themselves out and by pandering to adult customers have almost completely lost the 8 to 15 year old fans. The kids just go to the movies, which is great for the big guys but does very little for the paper and ink crowd.

None of this bothers me though. The superheros will always remain the same in my memory.

I used to love Deathlok when I was a kid. I dont think the book lasted long, but was one I enjoyed.

Guy Gardner was DC. Maybe he could stand in for John Stewart, but not the hereditary king of the African country of Wakanda.

Agreed, that would have to be a crossover.

Myself I like Hal Jordan as GL. While not the "original", he was the one I grew up knowing as GL. I know the movie got panned....but I actually enjoyed it.

A little off-topic but I know this Batman v. Superman movie coming out in 2 years better be the best thing I ever experience, DC wise.

I dunno... it sounds like they're trying to cram every DC hero into the movie, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman (yes Aquaman!).

It's overkill. A story with Batman, Superman, and a villain is more than enough to fill a two hour movie.
