I'm not so sure you should be correcting people when you don't seem to know the difference between a "coma" ( 2 "m" in comma BTW ) and a "apostrophe".

Well, drinking Wine to a Catholic is not the same as weed is to a Rastafarian, or in this case a Beard to the Muslim as far as I know.

But if it is...then yes, lets be consistent.

Nothing in the Koran requires a Muslim to grow a beard.

Its a cultural thing.. mature men grow beards as a sign of "wisdom and authority".

No, it was you who made it obvious that you don't understand basic second grade punctuation in a laughable attempt to look smart and correct another poster.

I could see where a security service would want their guards clean shaven. You don't want your clients to fear your employees will be the culprit.

Awesome, so then the Employer asking him to shave it to comply with their dress code doesn't infringe on any religious angle?

Good, I hope the case gets tossed out.

I was hiring CPAs for a major accounting firm.. One applicant was an orthodox Jewish man who wore the Yamaka and the fringed vest.

The CPA firm required their employees to work on Saturdays during tax season.

He had to get off early on Friday for religious reasons and couldn't work on Saturdays.. He didn't get the job and he threatened to sue.

Not at all, there is a difference between a brain fart and some dildo from the 3rd world insinuating he was part of "letting" someone post.

Did he ever sue? or was it just bluster?

Sounds like he wouldn't have had a legitimate case, as you explained the work hours.

sounds like a very reasonable requirement directly related to performing the tasks required.

No .. he didn't sue.. He just showed up in my office and reamed me for discrimination..

Consider for a moment the implications.

What if a Muslin woman pharmacist was hired by CVS.. could she serve customers in a veil?

    The whole scenario is outrageous.

It sure is. We agree on this one Margot.

As long as rules of employment and policies are explained, and they aren't discriminatory in nature...a company should be able to hire and fire as it sees fit to fill it's needs.

If someones religion is going to get in the way of that, you shouldn't have to hire them.

There are a number of Muslim women who work at the local CVS by me. They wear head scarves but they do not cover their faces in any way. I think that is fair, I would not be comfortable if their entire face was covered, that is simply rediculous.

That wouldn't concern you at all?

How about a Pharmacist in a Darth Vader helmet? Still ok?

When they gave you the wrong drugs...how would you point out the Pharmacist if they happened to not bring the costume to court?

Title 7 of the Civil Rights act > Privately Owned Company's Dress code

Just because you own a business doesn't mean you get to do everything you want.

Leaving for prayer for 6-7 hours wouldn't be reasonable accommodation would it? What we're talking about is a beard.
