I don't see how given that he is viewed as a radical, racist, far-right neo-nazi fascist, just like Trump, because that is how the corrupt dominant leftist media paints them, and unfortunately people believe it.

What's the evidence that this swung the election to Biden?

~ It is more a flaw of human nature.
~ Poppa Bush was ex CIA — always a danger. He was the one who informed America of "New World Order ". He didn't ask us , we were not allowed to vote on it — we were told it was going to happen. ( Like Bill Gates predictions of future pandemics ) Shortly after the EU was created.
USA is heading in the same direction — the North American Alliance .
~ More likely he did what he wanted to do — regardless of why people voted for him. The political cabal special interests have influence over decisions made on Capitola Hill — the citizens not so much. Trump was the only oddball to resist.

Did something come before traditional conservatism? If so, what was it?

I don't think the media fools as effectively as they pretend.

'Trust in media is so low that half of Americans now believe that news organizations deliberately mislead them'

    https://fortune.com/2023/02/15/trus...ead-biased-republicans-democrats-poll-gallup/

Not just error prone, but deliberately traffick in disinformation, and of course, they do.

Everytime Republicans win, it's despite the media. And we win regularly.

Yeah, but isn't that other half enough to sway the election?

Correct -- No such thing as a functional democratic process without fair and free media.

Well perhaps, but in theory, if a small enough number of people bought into media lies, perhaps a functional democratic process would JUST ABOUT be possible? But half of the country? No chance!

Correct again .. but that "in theory" will not happen... The raging masses are - in general - political morons .. and the system has works hard to keep them that way.. The average person is functionally illiterate with respect to the skills needed to be allowed to vote.. were there a test.

Just the basics of Philosophy - Logic, Logical fallacy, what constitutes a valid argument .. and a wee bit of proper civics - Founding principle... Constitutional Republic .. legitimacy of authority ..

Without these basic skills .. "Fallacy for example" how is one supposed to weed through the cacophony of bad argument and fallacy raining down on a daily basis from Politicians and the media. .. .. You saw what happened in covid .. that alone shold convince anyone how succeptible the average Joe is to State Propaganda .. the media that is supposed to be questioning Gov't .. on their side shilling for them.

and essential liberty taken or restricted on this basis.. tickety boo... was a brilliant experiment in control.

If the opposite was true, do you think that it would have made a difference in the 2020 and/or the 2022 election?

Do you think that there should be a test to be allowed to vote?

Which area of government in the context of COVID?

I don’t know if there’s an answer to that. I’ll say this, this country was founded by Classic Liberalism which traditional conservatism have a lot in common. Traditional conservatism believes in a small government, more power to the individual than any central government as did the framers of the constitution which were look on as liberals at the time. Against monarchies, aristocracies, dictators or any form of an all-powerful central government of the ruling elites. The framers went so far as to define exactly what powers the central or federal government would have, which powers were given to states. Then to ensure the central government never became too powerful, there was the Bill of Rights which basically left all the powers and rights not defined by to the central or federal government to the states or the people. This latter gets totally ignored today.

The thing is we can’t look back at that time through 21st century eyes to understand what was happen. There weren’t any modern-day political parties back then, I suppose you could call them clubs of ideology. Andrew Jackson established the first modern political party, the Democratic Party. The old Jefferson Republican Party or ideology then formed the Whig Party which morphed into the modern Republican Party. Until FDR, both political parties were pretty much the same. Both fearful of the central government amassing too much power. The Great Depression and WWII changed all of that, from a White House where sheep grazed on the lawns along with anyone who could enter the White House to visit at any time into one powerful central government.

I’d say Traditional Conservatism goes back to pre-FDR for the most part with some modern changes. 1. They believed in fiscal responsibility, not spending more than one took in. Outflow matching revenue. They detested borrowing of money. The Jefferson vs. Hamilton syndrome if you will. 2 Small government, a federal government that stays out of a citizen’s private business and lives. 3. Avoiding foreign entanglements or perhaps isolation which has been modified and perhaps discarded.

Classic liberalism views were just about the same. The ideology of the parties was close. That is until FDR. Even in the 1950’s when I grew up conservatives was said to believe the same as the Democratic Party, only a little less.

He supported a tax increase and broke his word. You can split hairs if you want, but neither the Republican convention delegates nor the Republicans who heard the speech on the radio or TV could have interpreted his meaning any other way.

Big difference .. yes there should be a test but would be very easy .. only testing knowledge of definitions for the most part .. "Essential Liberty" for example.... Folks forever get it wrong .. less than 50% have a clue what essential liberty is "Essential Liberty" is not the same as "Liberty" freedom to do what ever you like.

Biden Fauci - various medical establishment mouthpieces. The media parroted the party line for the longest time .. claiming the vax prevented transmission for example .. . a claim that turned out to be completely false

[1] I didn't say that she'd be good at her job.
[2] It's only been like a week... There's a whole year yet before primaries even start... Be patient.

So far Trump is being smart by simply making a small comment about Nikki Haley on the day she announced and has since continued to focus his attacks on DeSanctus and the rich globalists who are funding/supporting/managing him. DeSanctus can't hide behind a pathetic pretense forever... We all know that he is running and has planned to run since at least December 2021, which should downright insult everyone in the state of Florida who reelected him because they want him to be their GOVERNOR and to focus on THEIR issues within THEIR state... We all know that he has met with conservative media influencers and has even paid them off to promote his campaign... Why can't he just be honest about these things?

We are in an era where all the elections are close. The totalitarian Left is insatiable. Like a masochist, yielding inflames their lust for more. Those that support our system of Freedom and Liberty as enshrined in our Liberal Constitutional system, simply must join the fight if our freedoms and liberties are to be preserved. There is nothing new about this. We were warned by our Framers that the price of Liberty is eternal vigilance.

I see us as in an era where forces of Liberty and the forces of Totalitarianism are roughly balanced and expect the result to be very close elections for a time. When one side gains an edge and goes too far, they quickly lose that edge and whatever exploitive structures they managed to erect during their time in power will then be used against them. Dingy Harry Reid going nuclear on judges followed by McConnell using that same weapon against them to put 3 supreme court justices on the high court and hundreds of judges on the lower courts is a splendid example. I expect after 5 cycles or so of this back and forth, that the slowly forming forces of moderation, the Joe Manchin, Sinema, Jack Tester types will begin to form "gangs of 8" or such as McCain called them, a bipartisan group, that if they will hang together, effectively control the chamber. John McCain did this several times, it's an obvious play for moderates, another group will figure it out soon. So I see this giving way to a more pragmatic moderation after the young bucks of both groups are done smashing each other's heads for a bit and begin to listen to the more seasoned voices pointing to a more sensible path.

In the meantimes as that is working itself out, I see the pivot point of the upcoming election cycles to be the suburbs, and whoever carries the suburbs carries the majority, and it being a rather slight one would not surprise me. This is the result of the Democrat Party steadily losing the working, middle class, and rural vote that at one time they owned, then they split, and now votes against them as overwhelmingly as the black vote votes for them, offsetting the black vote, and shifting the front to the suburbs where crime, schools, living standards and general safety are going to be key issues.

That's a fair assessment. However, I do smell fraud that swung what was supposed to be the election because when things happen "behind closed doors" "in the dark" "in secret" and people are unwilling to be forthright/open/honest/transparent about the process, and unwilling to follow election laws, and unwilling to support or even allow any meaningful investigation (such as complete forensic audits) into the process as it went down, then it's reasonable to conclude that something nefarious is going on.

That's pretty good summary. I'd say that the precursor to today's conservative movement were the Rich NorthEastern Blue Bloods, the Rockefeller types, that controlled the GOP until the rise of Goldwater and Reagan, and the Western Republicans. Reagan/Bush was a fusion ticket that united these groups, and pretty much the last one, though I think that Bush/Cheney also united both groups.
Yes. Goldwater called the Republican Whigs he defeated for the nomination the "Dime Store New Dealers". Others called them the Tax Collectors For the Great Society. They weren't ideologically opposed to what the Left was doing, they just wanted to craft it and massage it a bit.

I'd say that Ronald Reagan's "Time for Choosing" Speech in 1964 is a seminal piece that helped describe the modern conservative movement within the GOP.

That's the issue... especially when there isn't any chain of custody, or any way to later identify which ballots are illegitimate vs legitimate.

the "left" is baaaaaad. It has cheated at elections, tried to kidnap elected officials, attacked the Capitol Building and launched numerous frivolous lawsuits! Oh wait...

Well, you know what the queen of CNN said about her, she's obviously "passed her prime", and of course, that's enough for democrats to dismiss her. The real question is why you would worry about the millions she might "waste". Do you worry about what Biden spends?

DeSantis was obviously at the meeting along with those other influencers (per the photo). He also knows full well who organized it. Maybe somebody should ask him... none of those influencers are willing to say who organized it... Why won't they say? What are they hiding??

They are all hiding behind the false pretense that it was somehow NOT Christina Pushaw (his press secretary at the time) who organized it (she has even since denied that this meeting ever took place, even with the photo evidence that it indeed DID take place, and the photo evidence that all these very same conservative media influencers have hung out together since then), even going so far as to calling the claim a "complete fabrication". Thus, according to her, all of those conservative media influencers just happened to all randomly stumble into the Governor's office on January 6th, 2022... no organization... no invitation... etc... hahahahahahahaha

These sorts of dishonest pretenses have the stink of RINO all over them...
