Flood was chosen because of the symbolism of water. The symbolism of water comes back with baptism.

It's a fable. The details weren't that important.

    Wow.

You just justified the deaths of innocent children and infants in a vain attempt to blindly follow your narcissistic and demented god. I will save this conversation for future use, in future discussions regarding the mindset of fundamentalists.

Details are important. My issues is not with the lack of detail, the name and age of every innocent killed, but the glaring issue that is found in killing everybody.

    It is fundamentally sick.

They could have just as easily written a story about striking the sinners as killing everyone.

So a baby born just a day before this supposed flood is not innocent?

Actually from what I have read.. the early Hebrews associated water with CHAOS..

As in crossing the Red Sea was coming out of chaos and the bondage of ignorance.

No, I just told you there were no innocents. Good, save it all you like. Be sure to give me the credit for it.

I see comprehension is a problem with atheists. There are no innocents. There were no innocents killed in the flood. Lots of babies were killed in the flood. But babies are not innocent. They are sinners and guilty of sin.

A baby that is born a day before the flood is still a baby. And is still a sinner stained with Adam's sin. Thus a baby is not an innocent. Thus when I say no innocents died in the flood, that means all were sinners and guilty before God. All. That includes babies. That includes babies that were born 5 minutes before the flood.

The doctrine of original sin wasn't invented until the 4th century AD.

Those who died in the flood and the Red sea associated the water with chaos also.

Both are myths taken from the time the Jews were in Babylon.. They adapted them to teach identity and relationship with God... about their beliefs in redemption and God's mercy.

The main thing is the symbolism of the water washing away the sins. Can't very well have a flood that only washes away some people. Also, Noah and family are the symbols for all the innocent people in the world. Again, it's not real, and it wasn't written to persuade 21st century people and 21st century criticism. It was written to persuade people from the 6th century BC who were barely in cities.

Funny that it's in Genesis 3, written in the 5th or 6th century BC

It's also in Paul's letter to the Romans 5, written in 55 or 56 AD.

12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

Fundamentals are sick bastards who have no morals whatsoever. To say a baby who is 5 minutes old is not innocent, really shows just how sick these bastards are, and how far out of touch they are with reality.

They really need to be put into some mental hospital for their sickness.

God was just showing that fish were his chosen people.

They made out like bandits with that flood.

    Question for anyone to answer…

What do you think the intelligence level was of the people who wrote the Book in which Noah’s Ark was in?

Do you think that this person knew the world was round? Do you actually think he or she knew about South America or Australia? What do you think…? Or are you just assuming that he had the internet and was able to Google up everything he needed for the oncoming rain storm…?

    Do you understand?

People are well aware of this, the point of the thread is to dismiss the notion of the event actually occurring. As you have seen, there are still a couple stragglers that believe it to be a literal story.

WHAT?!?! Really?!?! How in the hell can someone think of Noah's Ark as truth!?!?! Or debate it being true!?!? I didn't believe it when I was a kid, so why would I know or even argue the point that the whole world was underwater!

I forgot who posted this nonsense. Someone posted that if Iraq floods, Australia would be underwater...
