When you involve the Morales and beliefs of one theology into a governmental system, there is a formation of a sizable gap between those that conformed and those who have not. take a grand look at the middle east. predominately Muslim, as I'm sure you already know, and it is one of the most violent regions in the world due to the overall conformity to Islam.

You might ask "but if their all Muslim why aren't they OK with each other?" the answer is simple. when you have a universal religion that has one set baseline story (in this case, Mohammed being God's final prophet) everyone that classifies themselves with that theology will have their own personal interpretations. and with these different interpretations comes the formations of new sub-classes of that religion. this leads to violence between the newly formed groups. ISIS interprets the Muslim idea that all other religions that claim to worship God, or "Allah" are based on false prophets and ideals to an extreme extent. if you are uneducated about what ISIS is and what their doing, you shouldn't be here. go get educated.

Not only do you get regions such as the middle east, but you also get constant conflict between citizens and even leaders. Look at the gay marriage issue. one of the most common arguments I've seen and heard that support keeping gay marriage illegal is that " it says in the bible that its wrong". that is one of the saddest excuses for and argument and has no ethical backing to it. the fact that not everyone in this country classifies them-self with a christian religion immediately invalidates that argument. No where in the constitution does it say that the bible has the rest of the rules to this government and this country's laws in it. it shows a lack of inequality between the citizens of the U.S. imagine if the government passed a law saying eating pork was illegal because the Qur'an prohibits it, but your favorite thing to do is go out with your buddies to the local barbecue and get yourself some freshly roasted pig. you would be kinda pissed, because the only thing that says eating pork is wrong would be a book for a religion you probably don't even follow! that is how the homosexuals feel when they hear people talking about the bible saying homosexuality is wrong. it might be to them, but they aren't the only people who live in this country of "equality"

what people need to understand is that equality should be put over your religious beliefs in EVERY political discussion, issue etc. because until everyone is under one religion with no sub classes, there is no true argument that can back your religious ideas up in the political world.

That is pretty profound. I wonder if that might have been the sole rationale or even a fractional part of the rationale used by the US Supreme Court Justices in declaring that Atheism is a religion for purposes of the 1st Amendment?

a country is only free if it's people are allowed to believe as they wish.... that is why not believing in a religion is protected the same as believing in one.... via our constitution

Gays promote and seek sexual promiscuity.

This is the basis of what Gay Life is all about.
Gays encourage sexual promiscuity, in general, for Straight people, too.
Teenagers, especially males, are naturally drawn towards masturbation, which makes them easy target for other Gay males to encourage to be sexually promiscuous.

Only religious people oppose this sexual immorality because they have been raised to see it is evil and harmful to society.
Religion appears to be the one thing which can back up parents and prudent adults against the hormones and bad examples and wide open temptations of peers here.

Having a Father up there seems helpful to fathers down here, working to get kids married as opposed to seeing girls become single mothers on Welfare.

Yes and the OP apparently thinks that if everyone does not believe as he does that they are wrong.

That is someone who likes fascism.

I have a lot of respect for people that do not follow religion as long as they have come to that decision on their own and they should not be bothered for believing that way the same as they should not bother me for believing the way I believe. And each side should be allowed to use our political system to try and get things we consider important passed into law.

That is the way our system is designed.

All religions today oppose sexual promiscuity and teach that sex belongs in the Institution of Marriage, where rues govern how women and children must be treated and protected.
Religions are all collectively against sexual promiscuity, i.e.; Gays out in public, and harlots, naked and clearly sexually approachable included.

But you must also believe that peoples' decisions ought not be such as innocent others people get harmed.
    Right?

When people decide to be openly sexually promiscuous, Taxes increase for Abortions that become necessary, Welfare is needed, and criminal justice against violent bastard people shoots way up.

And how are you proposing that this happens? In my experience, it doesn't matter how right you are, if you focus your arguments about how rubbish other people are, they will just not agree with you, no matter how sensible you are.

Very sensible observation, IMHO. Put that observation in perspective to Theism vs Atheism, and it is easy then to see the futility in the inevitable argumentation that continues.

as long as those laws have a secular reason and are not religious in nature,,.. I agree -- but if say one tries to create blasphemy laws based on the ten commandments, then that person should be slapped down as you can only have religious freedom with separation of church and state

I do not have issue with say Obama saying God bless America, I do have issue with adding under God to our pledge, which was not there originally, fascists added that later (I would also have issue with the pledge saying "Under NO God")

the gov should not be telling the people there "IS" or there "IS NOT" a God, the gov should stay neutral in such matters

We each have our perspectives which we defend as being true.
    But we usually are wrong.

I think that the morality of religion is needed in politics, like never before in our history. For when we kicked religion to the curb, one of the side effects from doing that has been a total desertion of moral principles that is laid out by many religion. For like it or not, religion has historically served as a conduit for morality, and rightful behavior.

But to introduce the entire religion into politics, given all of the differences in beliefs between the various denominations and sects is a mistake, and we separated religion from gov't so that we would not have one sect as a state religion, as England did with the church of England. For them a particular sect can dictate the beliefs of one sect upon all people. And that creates its own problems.

But to have basic common moral principles that came to us by religion historically is not only desirable, but essential, for without this, politicians lie, steal, kill, and commit all of those acts that share a commonality in most religions. If you look at our politicians today, they obviously have no religion at all, for if they did, they would stop the lying and the cheating, and the mass murdering that takes place when we send our soldiers to represent our business and banking interests, by basically saying, give our greedy elites what they want, or I shall not only blow your brains out, but your family as well.

So this move to divorce religion from gov't has only led to a more nefarious, evil and corrupt gov't. We threw the baby out with the bath, and our politicians who exist on power and money, are thankful we did it. For now they do not have to meet religious ideals at all, but can act just like any other atheistic common criminal.

The Welfare people do attend churches in many cases.
The single women are not evil people.
They just have babies with men who they never marry.

Often the Welfare seems a pretty good deal for them, and the men now are raised to avoid marriages, especially because they can' afford the support for them either.

    Its a terrible thing indeed.
The kids suffer child abuse, and grow to be the criminal element.

But the Gays push for more loose standards because on average they have 6-10 affairs ven when "married" to one another, and dozens and dozens when not married.

Sex is fine, when marriage is used to prevent the penalties of illegitimacy.

But that is just your opinion and it is a valid one but so is the opinion of people who DO want those added in. That is one of the great things about our system; everyone can try to make their views known.

This is how the will of the majority comes into play.

The problems arise when the courts begin acting against the will of the majority like they have with gay marriage.

Yes, but they must be "quickies," apparently.
Married Gays have a higher level of AIDS/HIV infections than other Gays.

They must make hits in the men's room or something.

Tell the Neanderthal men that story.

Our salvation as a species depends upon getting ourselves to see the Truth, and act accordingly, or Extinction is coming sooner than later.

Where in this new version of the 'Bible' does it mention 'extinction', and where in the older versions of the 'Bible' is the correlation between your version and the older versions? Keep in mind, the definition of the term "extinction". Does your version of the 'Bible' only reference the physical side of mankind? Are you a Christian or a Naturalist?

No one seems to want to address this point. I tend to think the same way.

One thing the OP misses is that quite a few of the gays wanting marriage are religious people, have children and live much like heterosexual couples. The crazy loose ones are out there, but most of those do not have any intention on marrying at least until they find a reason to settle down. (Doesn't meant they don't want it as a right when the time might come though)

The supreme court is deciding now if there is some logical ethical argument against gay marriage. If they judge that there is none it will be legal as far as federal law is concerned. This is not a matter of public opinion, no matter what the majority of US citizens might want the law will stand. Its not about religion or public opinion, its about whats defendably right.
