Lincoln was a Republican in the 1860's. It's 2011 for crying out loud. He ran against a person from the Constitutional Union Party! The parties are nothing alike nowadays! Saying Abe Lincoln is a Republican is like saying Thomas Jefferson is a Democrat. Get a grip!

Um, it sounds to me like he is comparing the insults lobbed at Lincoln to insults lobbed at him. In fact, he mentions insults lobbed at other Presidents as well. Apparently you only picked Lincoln so you could make this stupid thread. Is this seriously what you people do all day?

He's managed to crap all over our health care system, drive our debt up trillions, cut our domestic oil suppy, lost jobs, is unable to help with real estate crisis, prevented states from protecting themselves against illegal immigrants, crapped on the US and our allies and insulted them, divided our country even more on race, managed to have the first downgrade of our credit EVER, and you still defend this guy like he's god's gift to the US. So then why is Obama referring to the GOP history instead of the democrats. As I said he is in campaign mode and is moving back to the center
