Ohio senate overrides governor and blocks trans youth from receiving care

Ohio’s state senate has voted to override the governor Mike DeWine’s veto of a bill that bans transgender minors from receiving gender-affirming care, and their ability to play on sports teams, on Wednesday.

The bill, HB68, prohibits doctors from providing gender-affirming care – such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy or surgeries – to trans youths. It also blocks transgender female student athletes from participating on girls’ sports teams.

Well, the cruelty IS the point....

I'm fully for preventing trans girls from playing girls sports, but to pair that with intentionally ruining the lives of different kids, and their parents, is of course, ridiculous.

 

So not allowing children to remove their breast and/or genitals, or taking non reversible hormone drugs until they are 18 is ruining their lives?

I'm also against surgerys under 16 (not 18 - which aren't even a thing, BTW), but the drugs most take are fully reversible... so says the Governor, who actually TALKED to the people affected by this...

This bill will likely be struck down in the courts, as many already have.

There are other methods of treatment besides surgical intervention. I don’t expect much but I do ask for a loose understanding of the subject matter.

And 9 month old abortions are almost always medically necessary. So yea, I 100% support them when they are unfortunately needed. No surprise you don’t.

Body mutilation of children is when they remove breast and reproductive parts. Hormone therapy is when they **** with the puberty and development of children. Did you read the article?

And again, this is why a cursory knowledge of the subject is so important, hormone replacement therapy is the most widely used form or gender affirming medical care in minors — not surgery — this bill bans that.

Body mutilation and hormone therapy are two different methods to abuse children. Both blocked now in ohio. If you read the article and had a bit of cursory knowledge, you wouldnt have to ask me the difference between hormone therapy and body mutilation.
