I don't remember any cases of suicide 50 years ago when I was in HS over boys who wanted to wear mini skirts and heels and couldn't get "gender reassignment surgery. And I knew a couple really "butch" girls and they weren't going around demanding an "addadiktome" operation either

Ah, so because you don't remember not seeing it happen while you were in school, it never happened at all.

Do you know anyone from your school who switched sides only to be shocked at a high school reunion when you found out?

 

well I was pretty informed and my mother was chairman of the local planned parenthood organization. she had connections all over the city. No one ever heard of this alleged wide spread problem.

 

Sweden legalized transgender surgeries back in '72. They are considered the most progressive country in the world. Yet even they have put the brakes on not only transgender surgeries for kids, but also hormone therapy for kids. Why would that be?

Mind you, they've been studying this issue for 50 years and some change. Yet even they are saying...."wait... hold up...". Now, you would THINK that would give people pause. A country that's been studying the issue for 50 years, along with being considered the most progressive country in the world...maybe we need to put this on pause also....

As for those saying that hormone treatments don't have permanent effects...



For some, the above could be considered mutilation since it could have been avoided.

 

Regardless — what should be done now. These children exist, they struggle with anxiety, depression and suicide and Republicans have taken away most of their treatment options that reduce these issues.

So far the only solution a rightest has given if basically “**** them, life is hard”.

What is the Republican solution?

And for the record, trans people have consistency been polled to be around 1% to 2% of the population. They just were not vocal. The huge increase that we have seen are from non-binary identification.

It’s almost like when people are not threatened with arrest, murder or ostracization they stop lying about who they are.

 

And who is making these determinations?

Doctors. Medical organizations — based on facts and not because an ignorant base needs to be perpetually pissed.

These organizations will then recommend another type of treatment which is all I am pushing for. And some of those recommendations are still hormone therapy. Some are still surgical.

And no, hormone therapy cannot be classified as mutilation

 

I'll be honest-the only part of this issue I really care about is maintaining the integrity of women's sports. I coach women-once it was squash players, now it's archers. I have women on all American teams, world teams etc and I will not support-in any way-guys competing against women. I do have some concerns about pharmaceuticals pushing for more areas to sell their goods and it appears that puberty blockers is a lucrative field

 

As opposed to being pushed for because of money? As was shown earlier in the thread, the biggest funder for the push for the trans agenda is a pharmaceutical company who makes the hormones that are being used. Seems to me that at least one of these medical organizations in the US are not to be trusted.

Depends on your pov. Body modifications (which is what you consider this to be under I'm sure) is the voluntary alteration of a body. Body mutilation is the involuntary alteration of a body. Since a child cannot legally give consent until they are considered adults, could that then not also be considered as an involuntary alteration of the body and as such body mutilation?

 

On the issue of athletics — I share that concern but still don’t support the government getting involved. Policy should be dictated by the individual athletics commissions.

 

Never went to a high school reunion. But yes. I know of a couple high school folks who transitioned.

 

Far less population 50+ years ago. More acceptable of people in today's day and age too.

 

And you probably know people who saved $2500 on their health insurance...they were also probably part of the gay, muslim and illegal alien communities you hang out with.

I would agree with that-but It seems to me some are pushing this for nefarious purposes-trying to convince mentally ill kids that hey-lets emasculate you and you can dress like your big sister and all will be fine

Pharmaceutical companies are not typically involved in findings from medical associations.

And I would still trust them more than the average politician

Their guardians can give consent.

Mutilation also has to do with physical damage especially tissue damage, to circumcise would be mutation — hormone therapy isn’t.

 

Unless it’s white religious men — then suddenly it’s “don’t tread on me”.

The entire agenda would be laughable if it wasn’t destroying so many lives.
