What’s the point in anyone providing a definition when you’re just going to discount it then scream “no one knows what Woke is”, AGAIN

You know the answer. Just don’t want to accept it. Like what is a woman? Everyone knows the answer but if they are truthful it blows up in their face, just like wokeness.

It’s a sickness. It destroys everything. It disrupts society and order and logic. It’s wokeness, surrounding your daily life with victimization and letting it determine everything you do and how you think. It’s just sad.

 

I think of "woke" as spiritually awakened, realizing that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience in these bodies, and we are really all just different aspects of the same being, which is God. God is all that really exists. Realizing that, casting judgements on others is kind of ridiculous, because you are simply judging yourself.

I think most people throw the term around loosely, changing its meaning constantly to fit their agenda.

 

We see "woke" being used almost exclusively as a right wing epithet. And, in that context there is NO definition AT ALL.

 

Who made you king of what other people say and mean?

 

You are like the people who cannot define what a woman is.

Being Woke today is like calling somebody a hippie back in the day. There was never an exact definition of hippie but everybody knew what you were talking about. Being a hippie was more a mind-set than anything...just like woke. The hippie uniform was optional.

Woke is a popular culture consisting of a cup of neo-Marxism, a few sprigs of post-modernism, and a whole lot of stupid thrown in for good measure.

 

When Republicans use "woke" as an attack word, they need to define that term.

So far, it just means whatever they hate at the time - which is just plain sloppy and not good enough.

Republicans use this term in politics more than Dems at this point.

And, they are using it as a broad spectrum term of hate.

 

It means that while life isnt easy, and takes a crap on everyone, and we all have to travail sorrow, and obsticals in life, at least I dont have to worry about being discriminated against just for the color of my skin.

And I as a white cis american male, acknowledge I won the birth loto.

i am an engineer, not a philosophy graduate student. i'd be interested in hearing your explanation of the difference between "neo marxism" and "post modernism," and why you might think either are wrong?

 

I'll try to make this simply enough that even an engineer can understand. Neo-Marxism is the bringing forth of the oppressor/oppressed meme to apply to every damn thing and post-modernism is the belief that everything is subjective, i.e., what you think is what it is.

Of course, both of these philosophies are are incredibly weak for all kinds of reasons. Marx should have stuck with economic analysis and the post-moderns seemed to forget that who you are [externally] is socially-determined, that is, you are not what you think you are unless it is accepted [socially] that you are. Internally, you can believe you are a kumquat if that's what you desire.

 

I wish people could detach labels such as "woke" and actually talk about what they mean by the word, so they can have actual conversations rather than arguing over the definitions of a word.

What the progressives say woke is; the awareness of social inequality, I'm all for. What detractors use the word to mean, I'm against. These people talk right past each other. And politicians take advantage of that to create more political polarization that would otherwise be and win votes from their base. Black Lives do Matter, because all lives matter. And no, progressives don't want drag queens to inject your four year old with puberty blockers.

 

Why don't you try explaining what a MAGA is?

About all I know about woke is the Democrats are for it, the Republicans against it. Exactly what woke is, I haven’t the faintest idea outside it is something political. Personally, I don’t give an owl’s hoot what it is. As a swing voter, I’m satisfied letting the two major parties battle each other over it.


Far as I’m concerned when I’m awake and not sleeping, I’m woke.

Look, right now, for the RW, the word "woke" and CRT are simply buzzwords, much like socialism and capitalism in an effort to not only redefine what it means but to use the words as derogatory in nature in an effort to try to show your "superiority."

 

Woke for me are unrealistic, socially damaging ideals and directives which are heavily focused on identity.

While they aim for some unattainable utopian future, they lead to regressive and destructive outcomes.

Not really. There is a alot of misinformation on what CRT is and where and when it is taught. Second, you just defamed someone named MLK jr when he was "woke" on the social and political injustice he marched against. Congrats.
