Even if the poem was two words long, "America Sucks", that's still not a reason to ban it.

Written word, that's it. This is what the Republicans get all bothered about. Not dead kids or shattered lives. The Written Word.

If Republicans spent even HALF the time trying to prevent school shootings as they do trying to prevent school reading we would be in much better shape.

I’d be interested in seeing who the perps were in those shootings and where they occurred. Do you a link?

Let it be noted that this person is a proponent of Penthouse Letters being put into school libraries.

You are judging a whole group of people by a few extremists. Shal I do the same for liberals or can you guess where that would go? Yes, every group has it's wack-a-doodles.
You didn't include a link in your thread so let me do that for everyone that wants to know the real story.

I would like not to judge the whole group but only the few extremist. But the fact is here you are attacking me then those extremist.

If you were not part of the “ few extremist” who wants to ban books, all you had to do in this thread post something like “ I don’t agree with these people who wants to ban books”

But here you are , you are attacking everyone excepting people you call ‘ extremist”

No child has been killed by saying the pledge of allegiance, yet it was banned.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/27/...allegiance-from-schools-citing-under-god.html

No child has ever been killed by a statue, yet the left tore them down.

No child has ever been killed by a copy of the US Constitution, yet people have been banned or restricted when handing them out at schools.

The confederate flag never killed a child, but guess what?

The list of things the left has banned is quite large and continues to grow. A rule of thumb the left abides by is if someone is offended by something then it has to end. To that end we no longer have the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Indians, Dukes Of Hazard, black face, Kate Smith, Murals of George Washington, etc.

Of course he is their newest boogieman. Yes, they see him as a potential threat to their un-american agenda.
However, anyone who does not bow down completely to their party’s agenda are also boogeymen. That includes Independents.

Any adult who wants children to have access to porn do not have their best interests at heart. Especially in a Teaching Institution.

    https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/teaching
Teaching ~ 1. noun ~ the activities of educating or instructing; activities that impart knowledge or skill

Adults who are in their right minds and have common sense know that access to porn at a young age puts children in jeopardy of being easily more open to being molested. Via instruction and acceptance by Teachers.

Especially when the access to the porn is authorized in an Institution of Learning by Teachers who think parents are in secondary place to their Authority over the children. Note: The current presidential administration agrees with that stupid idea.

Yes… Oh, but Ron DeSantis bad man! That sounds familiar. Yes, another one of many cheap tricks to diminish their opposition chances for the WH.

    What was of
I think the issue is that it has the words under God, and parents didn't want schools forcing kids to say the pledge of allegiance.

I've been talking about this since 1980 when I took an English class in high school focused on Women's literature (hoping, of course, that there would be a lot of girls in there). Most, if not all, of the literature in that class was very depressing. Nothing uplifting at all. I discussed this with the teacher and she said that she agreed but that's pretty much all there was. I encountered it again about 15 years later while taking a college English class that centered on gender (not my fault this time, it was all that was open that summer). Every bit of it was depressing.
It's no wonder that teen suicide rates have skyrocketed over the last 40 years. I guess that in order to be published, you have to be completely depressing.

BTW, you no longer have the Dukes of Hazard because the producers stopped making it IN 1985, because they ran out of awesome Hazard jokes....

It ran for 147 episodes, which beats the majority of TV shows attempted...

You NEED to move on, man.... hope this helps...

I think it's pretty self explanatory to the topic... They're banning this poem, not for content, but for author and original presentation locale...

That's how I picked my major in college... during a major open house my first year....

Paid off back then, but really poor decision-making paradigm long term..

The book wasn't "banned from schools". It was moved to more age appropriate section of the library.

But, after banning Dr. Suess, the Leftists don't have a leg to stand on

    - Forcing kids to recite the pledge is a violation of their rights. Having a book in the library does not violate anyone's rights
    - Care to list the people who were banned or restricted from handing out copies of the Constitution? I'm willing to bet there were other factors.
    - Should we also hang the flags of England, France and Spain...you know the other flags of countries that used to rule over parts of what is now the US?

It's a hair split..... Do pre-middle schoolers have access to the "middle grades collection"?

So what's the REAL reason pre-middle schoolers shouldn't read this poem? Should any feel compelled to...

Some of the most well known and famous literary works of art are not happy and bright at all. Example: "Night" by Elie Weisel

You didn’t read the OP clearly. As the OP is what brought up guns.

You aren’t paying attention. Holy crapballs indeed.

Oh we know and what your not getting is this movement was home grown out of covid at home teachings. Parents do care what their kid read and parents want racial inclusion, not racial division. Parents do care what their child learning versus what they should be learning. Parents also don't want guns and schools and want safe schools and why they are pushing for school choice. Everything parents want lefties, tend to be against and lean towards sexual inclusion or racial divide over common core, which not productive. Sing it from the rafters though you're turning more and more independent mothers towards the good guys.

Six Flags does (at least the last time I went there they did). I didn't get upset in the least. I see Mexican flags and generic African flags being flown all the time. Still not upset.
