This liberal is so out-of-touch he doesn't even kinow it doesn't say "native," it says "natural." You're right---those are two different things. Doesnt' change a word of what I said before- Conservatives have proposed such an amendment many times before, but now that a liberal proposes it Conservatives howl its a liberal plot. Hypocracy or just lack of education?

I ask because according to the explicit wording of US law and repeated US Supreme Court decisions, that is not even possible. There is nothing his mother could have done that would have altered the citizenship status with which he was born. Not her marriage to a foreigner. Not her own expatriation or (theoretical) revocation of citizenship. Not any attempt by her to revoke his citizenship. Not obtaining dual citizenship. Not traveling with a foreign passport. Not his (theoretical) adoption by his Indonesian step father. Not even six year old Barack Obama marching voluntarily into the US Embassy in Jakarta, calling LBJ a poophead and demanding his US citizenship be taken away.

So what exactly is the legal theory behind her doing anything that could strip him of his status as a natural born US citizen? Because I gotta tell you... it is simply not possible.

What conceivable nefarious purpose would be served by having a birth certificate from Connecticut that wouldn't be served just as well with one from Hawaii? He has clearly used this same SSN since the 1970s and always with his own name which would make him the worst identity thief in the history of the known universe. He used it to register for the draft. He uses it every year to file his income taxes (which as a millionaire would never escape the routine IRS checks of SSNs that are performed on attractive audit targets).

The Birther claim that it must be stolen is just dumb. Why would somebody go through the trouble of stealing an SSN when they could just apply for one?

He would have had to formally renounce his US citizenship .. His mother's marriage and living in Indonesia for three years in no way compromised his citizenship.

Further, He had a US passport by the time he was six years old.. He had to prove his birthplace at that time.

President Obama is an American success story, and clearly you can't stand that. He has a successful marriage with two children. He doesn't have a history of moral scandals like so many Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates. He hasn't switched wives like lightbulbs like some do.

From what I have seen, his principles and values and morals are on par or better with our last 4 Presidents. Am I 100% satisfied? Of course not, but I look and go "still better than Bush" and compared to the potential Republican candidates? Miles ahead.

Obama has had a US passport since he was six years old. It states his PLACE of birth.. and unless you can prove that Ann Dunham was NOT his mother, he's a natural born US citizen.

You don't have to.. Knowing he had one to travel back and forth from the US to Indonesia.. tells you that he had one and it stated his place of birth..
