While Pope Francis has been extremely vague in his statements it's also crystal clear that some strong wind of change is blowing over there. Are same-sex marriages on their way to be recognized by the Catholic church or is it a completely wrong interpretation of his words? And if so is it for good or for bad? Share your opinions.

or..... its merely paying lip-service to those that need to be mollyied whilst the Pope is actually doing nothing and saying nothing....thus its a non-story.....maybe the headline should have been "Catholic Church gives Gallic Shrug...as Usual"

The continued and purposeful debasement of the institution of marriage and its purpose for THE BENEFIT OF SOCIETY, losing out to the feelings of the LGBTQ. Men and women joining together to bring children into the world and providing the best environment for their care and upbringing.

This comes out shortly after we found out that the word homosexual was first added to the Bible in 1946.

I would say that the winds of change are blowing, but, obviously, things haven't changed much. Homosexuality is still considered a sin by the church. But it's a start.

The Pope blessing sin? A sure sign that Satan is getting stronger and gaining a foothold in Christianity.

Admittedly I'm not religious, but I don't understand why anyone would follow Catholicism. It's clearly the shittiest of all the major denominations (no offense indended to any Catholics reading).

Francis is going a mighty good job of ruining their claim to be the universal church. Admittedly this horse bolted when they excommunicated the Eastern Orthodox Church. I understand Catholics believe an official judgement of the Pope is considered sacred and true by definition, but to what extent do they take this? If the Pope started raving about snakes offering apples off trees would the flock not question this? I can't see many genuine Catholics sticking around, but I may be wrong.

All he has left to do is officially declare the Bible as false. An opinion I share, but then again, I'm not the head of the Catholic Church.

Painful childbirth is a punishment from God for Eve eating the apple, are Christians against making Childbirth less painful where possible?

If that’s what you’ve known, then it should’ve been obvious between every single war, massacre, genocide and heinous act that’s happened in our lifetime.

Well medieval times the sinners were drawn and quartered. Post medieval times the verbally condemned the sinners. A more proper role for the church

It’s fascinating that all the people — usually the same type of poster with similar posting style — always land on same sex unions as the ultimate evil and end of times.

It isn’t the children in foreign nations dying of preventable diseases and malnutrition, it isn’t children being raped by their own religious institutions, or the rampant divorce led primarily by heterosexuals (allowed when sections of the Bible were rewritten), it isn’t the gluttony and greed of the groups they worship, the abuse and destruction of our planet that they don’t want to do anything about.

No, no — it’s about two adults signing a civil document based on passages with a word that never existed in the New Testament.

It’s almost like their beliefs are based on their own hate and not actual logic or religious faith.

The organization of the Catholic Church seems to be departing from the true Body of Christ. Is their any indication that Jesus would ever have attended a same sex wedding? There are indications He spoke often of a Bride and Groom. Not a Bride and Bride or Groom and Groom.

The "Word of God" must be taken with a grain of salt. And let's not forget that people have died from testing that God will protect them from every deadly thing. Got to read the Bible with a spirit of discernment.

And Catholics believe that the direction of the church is of equal importance as the teachings of the Bible.

Yes, let's change things. It's a good old Christian tradition to change what's in the Bible. Let's open the Bible and decide what is good and what is bad. It wouldn't be the first time. You know that, don't you? It's been cherry-picked from day one.

God does not change. A church can make God head of the church or "the World".

But God doesn’t make the world the way it is, we do, nor is the world a theocracy.

We need to adapt and evolve.
