No, it is not untrue, and I would gladly live in a place with NO gun control of any kind. I grew up in such a place, and it was idyllic, peaceful, and nearly devoid of crime. Hardly a "war zone".
Then you did not grow up in the US. There is no such place anywhere within our country. So was it Yemen?
I don't know where YOU grew up, but I did grow up in the US, in the Southwest - New Mexico specifically - and where I grew up was exactly as described; your bigotry not withstanding.
The nation of Mexico has very strict firearm-related restrictions, and the government is the only source one can legally procure a firearm. Such has done nothing to stop it from becoming one of the most violent nations in the entire world.
Your definitions are fluid and ever changing; obviously at your convenience to buttress intrinsically weak arguments. We had no background checks, no registration, no restrictions on carry, no restrictions on mag capacity, and prior to '68 anyone - even children - could walk into a hardware store and buy a gun. If that's the "gun control" you desire, I'm all for it.
No, we didn't have gun control, and the world was a better place back then in a lot of ways than it is now. There are exceptions, but those are hard to find.
The NFA of 1934 was ignored completely and utterly. Mass civil disobedience was everywhere; short barreled rifles and shotguns were plentiful, and even full autos were represented. In short, your nightmare scenario.... in a peaceful, neighborly place where trouble was essentially nonexistent. I tried being civil with you, and you're the one that chose to embrace snide and contemptuous language. In short, what you tell me to try being something besides is exactly what you chose to be. Talk about "unattractive".
Sadly, people like you have mostly eliminated such places; to the detriment of the nation as a whole. I finally left NM as its political environment became ever more leftist and totalitarian, and eventually resettled in a place as close as I could get to the environment and community spirit I knew growing up. It's not perfect (you can't go home again, as they say), but it'll do for now.
Oh...... So nowhere in this beautiful republic do the people want to form your little utopia. The people have spoken!
So, in other words, for all your talk of wanting to save lives or whatever, you just proved you really don't care about safety; all you care about is gun control. You repeat, time and again, ad nauseum about how it's somehow impossible to have safety without draconian gun control.... and when confronted with a different reality, you just don't care. Yeah, the government has - just as the Founders warned - evolved towards totalitarianism and tyranny, and ignores the Constitution as a matter of habit. I know people like you are pleased as punch about that situation, but a lot of us aren't. I know a lot of communities where the people in that community want exactly the "utopia" I grew up with, but people like you seek to force us to accept nonsensical gun control in defiance of what we want or believe in.
Not sure how you got there. You can't have low gun deaths on a large scale without gun control. Texas does not even make the top ten in low gun deaths.
You ignore inconvenient fact for your own selfish purposes. I have cited several locations with low "gun deaths" and permissive, Constitutional gun regulations... and you have ignored every single one of them because they don't fit your narrative.
