AA gunfire is automatically targeted. So I doubt those in the location your pics came from were innocents.

So how long before Germany is kissing Putin’s for his ass gas again?

Oh, so then it's the Russians in the Donbass that are trying to kill the Gallicians in the West, and take away their lands? And here I thought it was the other way around. Thanks for that bit of knowledge.

I'll say what I want whenever I want,
no matter how stupid I sound.

    Because I believe
    there'll always be fools around.

    Who'll take the absurd
    and thus my word,
    ridiculous as it may be

and never think that maybe it's time
    they started to question me.

Why would you have thought that? Donbas is Ukrainian territory, not Russian, and as with Crimea, Putler took it from Ukraine by force.

And now Putler wants the rest of Ukraine. He is not going to get it.

Just heard a while ago....2 IL 76?.... Russki paratroopers carriers shot down near Kyiv and Vinnytsia....that's a big haul....those carry upwards of 150+ personnel.

Wonder what Putinkas tells the grieving mothers....probably nothing.

Bodies are piling up faster than cordwood.:)

Intelligence reports hint that Putin is not well, and may be getting irrational. He appears to be losing support at home by citizens that feel they have no dog in the fight.

The reason the attack seems relatively hesitant and not the usual burn and destroy tactic, is a lack of a focused goal. This causes the top commanders to feel not fully supported and to hedge, wondering about how this will conclude and who will be left holding the bag.

Well...he has plenty of inner circle to throw under the bus if need be....heads will definitely roll if this goes south.

If top military brass are feeling hesitant about the whole thing....that's bad. $hit flows downhill fast.

Even without the dead Russians, the indications are that many in Russia have not swallowed the propaganda. Besides the brave souls, protesting, in the Kremlin, Russians of more status & mobility-- tennis stars, wives of Putin spokespersons-- are also taking the opportunity, whenever chance permits, to convey the message, "No war." There are not just relatives, on both sides of the border, but seemingly a strong sentiment of connection, between a substantial portion of the Russian population, and the people of Ukraine, who it is difficult to view as enemies, despite hearing Putin label them as "Nazis."

For Putin, what was my meant to be a smooth, seamless, quickly- flowing plot, thickens.

If Ukraine joined Nato, it would be an existential threat to the Federation because of its proximity to Moscow. Putin explained this to Biden and Nato. He said that Russia was promised when it agreed to let East Germany unite with West Germany, that Nato wouldn't move an inch further East and yet they did four times. Putin wanted to start talks on disarming, but all he got in return was more blah, blah, blah.

Eight years ago when Poroshenko sued for peace, and went to Minsk, he signed a treaty. According to the Treaty Ukraine was to decentralize and the Donbass area which included Donetsk and Lugansk were to be given special rights. The rest of Ukraine was to federalize. The guarantors of the Treaty was Germany, France and Russia and it was accepted by the UN and made law.

With this treaty, the Western installed junta in Kiev would not be all powerful, and Russia would be more secure, but Kiev refused to comply with it. Instead they continued their attacks on the people of Donetsk and Lugansk. With the cries of a Russian invasion, Washington was able to send Ukraine heavier equipment, which in turn encouraged the nationalists to attack the two republics more forcefully so that thousands were forced to evacuate.

In the meantime, they had found unmarked graves in the Lugansk areas that were under the Ukrainian Nationalists. Also, the Russian Duma was getting upset and passed a resolution to recognize Donetsk and Lugansk as sovereign nations and they gave it to Vladimir Putin to sign. When the attacks began to increase on the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, they begged Russia for help. In order to help them Putin had to recognize them as being separate nations and not part of Ukraine, which he did and sent in peacekeepers with a warning that if the Republics are attacked, they will respond forcefully.

NATO is not an existential threat to Russia.

Ukraine is farther away from Moscow than Poland, a NATO country.

Stop being a Kremlin bot and THINK for once. Jesus H Christ.

how can a military alliance created to counter Russia not pose a threat to Russia? You can still put up with armed men walking around your city... it bothers you when armed people walk down your street. But when armed men stand on your porch, will you believe that they are not a danger to you?
Many people have a short memory, but I remember how they accepted Estonia into NATO. And immediately they began to resent that Russia dangerously approached the borders of NATO.

How can you pretend it is a threat to Russia when it has never attacked Russia? NATO doesn't even threaten Russia. All it does is protect its members against attack and invasion by your neo fascist regime, which has just invaded a peaceful, democratic nation precisely because it was not (yet) in NATO.

Nato hasn't attacked Russkis....it's members are in a security agreement from being attacked by Russia....seems you don't get that.

But...thanks to Russia invasion of Ukraine now....you can expect those "lines" to be hardened that much more....Russia thinks it has a headache now.....well give it a reason for a bigger migraine:).

The Russian Ministry of Defense publishes a video of the surrender of Ukrainian border guards on Zmeiny Island. The Ukrainians surrendered without putting up resistance.

It is noteworthy that earlier the President of Ukraine Zelensky said that the Ukrainian military stationed on the island refused to surrender and died heroically.
Another myth of Ukrainian propaganda has been dispelled.

One of the problems if you follow war is that information needs to be vetted before confirmed, its still early in the conflict and this story could be true, the heroic story could be true so we will have to wait a few days until confirmed what actually happened. Same with the 2 Russian transport planes downed yesterday, most people used to following war are waiting for confirmation such as debris or something of that nature, otherwise the information is not vetted and confirmed. Might have happened, might be propaganda; we will find out in a week for sure.

Regarding this story, I lean towards the the Russians, although I am not sure how many people should be stationed on a small island with +10 buildings and a dock. 80 might be to much, but 13 seems like enough even to maintain that infrastructure. Russia technically does not need to fight a story where they destroyed their target with a destroyer, militarily they did what they were supposed to regardless if the enemy told them to "F*uck Off" before they died.

No amount of historical regurgitation justifies the fact that Russia has invaded a European country - to widespread condemnation, apart from China. I would say more people have died in the last couple of days than the little bits of exchange over the past decade in the Donbass.

I'm not sure what you're being gleeful about.
