I could make a list but let's just start with the first stance that would have him baked like a pig.

He would repeal the Civil RIghts Act and also Equal Work for Equal Pay.

Now he can say The Magic Market will be sweet and send unicorns down to make sure that everyone will be treated fairly, without regulation.
Hell, even WITH regulation, we still have problems in that regard and no, the market doesn't punish the offenders.
Wal-Mart? Skadden Arps? Ernst & Young? Kaiser?

    So there goes:
    Blacks - all
    Jews - most
    Hispanics - all
    Women - lots
    Muslims - all
    Atheists - lots
    Gays - all
Everyone who supports the right to a reasonably equal chance in life for those listed above - all

So Solly Ron Paul. No POTUS for you. You've lost the votes you need, the minute the Obama Camp starts the commercials.

You believe it's okay to tell a Business Owner they have to accept certain people? I find that everything else is okay I just don't desire the intrusion the Government has to choose which customers or employees the Business allows.

Equal Work for Equal pay "employers may not pay unequal wages to men and women who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility, and that are performed under similar working conditions within the same establishment."

The only issue I have with this is the restrictions in the Marketplace it creates for not allowing more entry level employees to be acquired. Also I really do not like the fact the Government can decide how the Business Owner operates how they pay their employees either when it comes to all aspects. Maybe I'm just into Unicorns and believe the Evil Witch/Warlock who treats their employees unfairly will find their pool of potential diminshed.

Which is why you are clueless about Wal-Mart, Skadden, Ernst, Kaiser.... All quite profitible, tyvm.

It's not the government telling me who I can hire. Right now, my employees are 100% white male. Guess what? No lawsuits.
But if I have a guy who produces twice as much profit and is better in every way - but then I promote the white guy instead, something's wrong with that.
And guess what? You'll never know. I'll keep discriminating and it will have zero effect on my business. No diminished pool. Just ask the fine folks at Skadden Arps. Oh wait? You don't know about them? Yet the average partner at the firm makes over $2M a year? Hmmmm. So much for unicorns.

More to the point, it makes him unelectable.

I guess we've already forgotten about the New Haven 7, and the Supreme Court ruling against racial quotas? Portions of the Civil Rights Act have already been repealed.

Equal Work For Equal Pay?? Tell that to the military! Are you interested in knowing what the physical standards are for females in the military compared to males? The workload is no where close to equal, but the pay, very much so.

Is discrimination OK if it is against a white male? No.

Still doesn't prove anything other than poor business practices and businesses being given Corporate Welfare to allow them an advatange.

It's the whole idea of someone else not deserving such a raise or promotion that upsets you? Wow, I'm glad it does upset you. But you're going to allow a Government agency to step in and Police how a Owner manages their promotions, pay and raises? With the way the Government currently has ideas today they would most likely be choosing who you employ in a few decades.

The people themselves can raise awareness of the actions... Why is the savior always the Government? Centralized Governments has a long track record of creating more Finacial and Social mishaps than the Free Market does. The requirement of Government to decide the pay, service and employment of people of a Business it doesn't own is just asking for more Government intrusion.

In the CRA, the Government doesn't decide any of those things. It just stops companies from being able to screw people with impunity, in this regard. Of course, they still violate these laws anyway but it is at least a deterrent. Otherwise, why have laws against murder, theft etc...? It doesn't mean it won't happen but it's a deterrent.

And again, it makes him completely unelectable. And that's only the FIRST thing.

Why can't minorities fight their own labor battles like white males are forced to do? New Haven 7? Supreme Court ruling against racial quotas? So Affirmative Action has been repealed, that is why you haven't been sued for hiring all white people. How many agencies and departments do we need to defend laborers? Why do we need unions, the ACLU and a Department of Labor? Businesses aren't leaving the country and we're not faced with a 16.5% unemployment rate because they are under taxed and under regulated. And the Civil Liberties Act isn't keeping blacks, whites or women out of the unemployment lines.

Specifics please. Saying they're doing "Poor" practices and staying in Business really depends on the practices they're performing.

Because you feel it's wrong for such things to occur thus there should be a Magical Centralized Government insuring the Protection of the Employee? If a Business wants to discriminate there is a definite backlash in today's world considering the Internet is so viral now with information.

So the Government needs to step in and decide what's wrong/right in a Business? As if the Government itself is the Champion of Morality... I see they're doing well so far being in several Wars, handing out Corporate Welfare, Inflating the currency and burning the Constitution.

Yes they do get involved with the CRAs "Outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion or national origin in hotels, motels, restaurants, theaters, and all other public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce; exempted private clubs without defining the term "private.".

So yes it did indeed influence decisions based on color and gender (Height/Children Cases).

Example: If I allow you to sit on my bike (My bike) and ride it around for awhile then decide to tell you to get off it am I wrong? It is mine... what claim do you have over it that makes it your decision to whether or not you're still able to ride it? Comparing Employee "Rights" to theft/murder would be similar to comparing OJ Simpson to Mel Gibson.

First off, if you honestly believe that he would try to repeal that, you are crazy. It is so far down his list of priorities that if he were to ever get around to it, he would have to be in office for a lot longer than 2 terms.

In the version of America in which this actually does happen under Ron Paul's presidency, it would not be a big deal. I say that because that would be an America in which unemployment would not be the major deal that it is now. In that America, any corporation that shows discrimination would likely lose those employees discriminated against to competitors.

Perhaps if you payed attention to more important matters like the economy and unemployment, you might actually realize who would be able to get (*)(*)(*)(*) done and get it done right.

I've never once in my life wondered whether I didn't get a job because I was a white male. I'm sure it happens from time to time but until the CRA, it was rampant. It still happens ten times more to minorities and women than white males. Hence my reference to the various companies.

In either case, the view makes Ron Paul unelectable. Period. Sorry, no one's getting elected with the blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Women, Gays and those supporting those groups, all against them. And it would take me half an hour to come up with a soundbite that would kill the guy.

He is not against any group... that is where you are wrong. He is against government mandates. He is against the democrats classifying and grouping people into races.

Um yeah. Except kids don't depend on mom being able to depend on riding your bike, in order to eat.

I get it. You've read the Little Libertarian's Book of Opinions. The Magic Market will fix everything. No toxic waste (Can you say PG&E? Oh wait. They're STILL in business? Hmmm), no discrimination, no dangerous product, all is well.
I know I won't change your mind and you won't change mine.

In any case, I find these views crazy - as do the people that would be needed to Ron Paul to have a snowball's chance in hell, of getting elected.
So Solly Ron Paul. No POTUS for you.

You understand the difference between whether or not he's right, and whether or not it will keep him from being elected? Guess not.

You know the best thing about Ron Paul? He actually sticks firm to his beliefs. It may keep him from being elected, but at least he isn't conforming and selling out.

You have to like that from anyone... ESPECIALLY a politician.

If you look at my previous posts on him, including my post "Why I respect Ron Paul Supporters", you'll see that I do indeed, like and respect that about Ron Paul. There is a LOT to like about him.
But the things I do disagree with him on, I disagree so strongly, that it would preclude my seriously considering him as a condidate for POTUS.

Minorities have a greater shot than a single white male. The demecrats made sure of that. I have seen it first hand. Doesn't bother me too much though. I know my own worth and I don't need the government to lend me hand.

Is this another assumption based on what the media tells you? Best you find that video before your credibility falters.

What is different about him than most candidates is that he does not favor ANY group over another but he does favor the rights of an individual over any group.

Ron Paul said something like "God does not give rights in packages, he gives them to individuals".

It is sad that you have to pander to a specific group in order to get elected. Does anyone beleieve in individual freedom anymore?

Look, let's assume for the sake of argument Ron Paul is right about everything. How do you think the groups I cited are going to react when the Dems come out with this commercial:

"You've worked hard to get where you are. Whether you're African American, Hispanic, a woman, gay or a member of any group that has been systematically discriminated against for most of our nation's history, it wasn't as easy for you.
Ron Paul wants to take all that away. He has said he would repeal the Civil Rights Act and the Equal Work for Equal Pay act. So much for all your hard work. If ron paul gets elected, you can go back to the cotton fields, the fruit fields, the kitchen and the closet.
Barack Obama in 2012. He'll protect you from Ron Paul."

Now that may or may not be accurate but it doesn't matter. Elections are won or lost based on perception.
Anyone denying that, denies a simple reality of America.
