IMO, the Bin Laden assassination was more political in nature than anything else. I can't help but notice the fact that the OBL assassination occurred on the anniversary of GWB "mission accomplished"... and how Obama fans reveled in that.

I couldn't believe how the Left leaning anti war crowd suddenly became flag waving patriots, or remained silent, despite the fact that it was an illegal operation. It's basically been the same with Libya... and now we even have troops being sent to other parts of Africa.

It wasn't an assassination it was a capture mission.

What's illegal is harboring a mass murderer.

Absolutely-and America has harboured a fair few mass-murders. Educated them in the mechanics of murder and assassination too, at the School of the Americas. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article13436.htm

And then, when they're done with the murder, human-rights abuses and assassinations in their respective countries you invite them to come and live in your communities. I bet you're proud.

Sad but true... Unfortunately, the parties involved in these activities seem to matter more to Americans than the acts themselves.

If your guy does it, it's ok. If the opposing party does it, it's not.

Hey why not execute him and then at least shake the place down for intel.... hand grenades cannot do that. Good work to those people for trying to catch him alive though.

What also infuriated the SEALs was that the politicians (Obama) came out talking about it so quickly because that meant the intel they did get suddenly had hardly any value and of course reduced the options available to exploit the event for the most benefit.

That's because the "Left wing" thinks there is a DIFFERENCE between brainlessly bombing civilians and attacking random 3rd party countries, and ACTUALLY KILLING THE GUY WHO PLANNED THE ATTACK!

I can't BELIEVE just how clueless the Right Wing is on this issue! Its like the EFFECTIVENESS of a military action is measured SOLELY by the number of bombs, bullets and wholesale deaths, regardless of the deaths being men, women or children of ANYONE who had ANYTHING to do with the provocation!

Every nation on earth does dirty tricks. Name one that hasn't? That is why I say all governments are evil by default, that and the primary reason of a government to exist is to control the people. The successful application of those dirty tricks helped build the USA. I do not condone nor am I proud of our country for doing them. But the truth is the CIA NSA etc enabled the USA to be the last superpower on earth. We could if we wanted take the entire world over.* If we were truly imperialistic expansionist types as many here have suggested why haven’t we …er’ expanded. I don’t mean taking a small country like Iran and installing a Shah.

No, true historical imperialism would go like this; First we would take Mexico central America and south America including Cuba. Then after a massive military build up our aircraft carriers would steam to parts east, Europe and the UK, then Russia and China. The truth is that we aren’t anything of the Imperialistic sort!

    I'm going to enjoy this:

Hector Gramajo Morales, former Guatemalan Defense Minister, ordered by a US court to pay $48 million in damages for torture and murder of Guatemalan citizens, also the torture of an American nun, Sister Dianna Ortiz.

Jose Guillermo Garcia, head of El Salvador's armed forces and death squads, also resident in Florida.

Gen. Carlos Eugenio Vides Casanova, the predecessor of the above and another Florida resident who covered up the rape of three American nuns and a lay worker in 1980-among others.

Alvaro Saravia, another Salvadoran, who worked with death-squad leader Roberto d'Aubuisson who ordered the murder of Archbishop Oscar Romero. Also resident in Florida.

Would you like some more, or is four enough for now?

Bull(*)(*)(*)(*), liberating Iraq from a mass murdering tyrant and killing terrorists who use human shields is not murder it's war, intentionally targeting civilians with a planes full of civilians for the benefit of an imaginary man in the sky is cold blooded murder.

Absurd. Your imperialism is evident in the various puppet 'democracies' America has installed, usually after bombing the crap out of the grateful recipients of US 'democracy'.

'Random tangent'? Nope, just making a salient point in the interests balance in the face of the poster's typical anti-Muslim rhetoric. It applies absolutely.

The USA harbours mass murderers. Are you proud?
