Absolutely beautiful. The "extremely costly" part makes me wonder. If in the 19th century it was not extremely costly but normal to build with such detailed artistic expression, what are we now doing wrong in the 20th and 21st centuries that this has now become extremely costly? (I guess advanced technologies don't help again.)

Apart from this, let me go wild, and suggest a few cost reductions, such as mayors make people reproduce the artistic details in many exact (wood) replicas of each elemet, rotting or not. For example, people in the town prisons could be given pictures/drawings of the artistic details, and they would not be allowed to complete their sentences until they reproduce x number of exact copies of each piece. What's your opinion?

Wow, prison cell ... even that is cleaner than US prisons.

What I was thinking about was from that Lena wrote that restorative work on historic wooden architecture is very expensive.

So I began to think that if people had time to pay for such beautiful woodworks in the 19th century, then we should look for people with still a lot of time today, when cities order maintainance works.

In my humble opinion, the people with the most free time are old people and prisoners. In the US, we make our prisoners do car registration number plates, roadside railings, uniform repairs, as well as other public works.

So if it is hard to find money to keep up the buildings in good shape, these prisoners could receive raw wood in prison, and start carving that raw wood into shapes that are copies of the wooden artworks on the buildings.

    Lena,

the difference is that Russia has one third of its people who earn $1K/annually of fewer, according to the US standards more as 80 % of all Russians are extremely poor.

Tomsk city government spend a lot of money to maintain wooden buildings. There are special firms doing wooden buildings.
As I know, tomsk prisoners are making bricks, working clothes.

You are wrong. Medium russian wage is $680/month.

May be americans have more money (paper in your pocket), but you are living in bad cardboard houses and eating bad food...

I'm glad you liked pics and houses; they are gorgeous.
I was talking about restoration of the existent historic homes, otherwise there are high speed CNC routers who, with the artwork done in adequate comp program, do almost all you can imagine.

The 95% of people can see how the 5% live (and how fortunate people live in other places, via TV, movies, etc.). This is better than not knowing that such places exist.

What places are you talking about? On this thread I see pics of cinema, theater, university buildings, churches, even mosque... Is that unaffordable to 95% of people?

Almost everybody of those is a thief, corrupted official, crook, gyp, racketeer or mafioso. No one can make good money on the honestly way in Putn's Russia.

    You need:

    1. Free Elections
    2. Good Relationship with the Western World
    3. Rebuilding of your destroyed "Economy" which is already dead "thanks" your corrupted thieves - "officials".

Otherwise Russia will disappeared, Putin's Regime will kill it.

    Lena,

the average Russians in Siberia can make not more as $2K/ annually in the case they have a job.If you put in Google "нищета в Сибири"/ poverty in Siberia/ you can read a big lot about the True Situation in the future Chinese Province Siberia.I guess as a native Serbian you can perfectly understand the Russian language.

Thank you Ostap. Now I know how to find out real situation. Just google "poverty (country or region name)". USA needs revolution. It needs communist regime, otherwise it will disappear.

Yes, I can understand Russian language, but still there's no point in arguing salary...For instance, the cost of living in Tomsk, Russia is ~44% cheaper than in Chicago, IL (data based on 2,279 prices entered by 270 different people) while it's cheaper to live in Belgrade than Tomsk ~4% which is insignificant difference between two.

Why do you believe in it? Do you understand English? Medium tomsk salary is $680/month. Many people get more (I am). I pay for big apartment about $100/month. I need about $150 for food. I have about $1000/month for fun.
    How much do you have?

    Look it me...
