not to close. it was the Goodall Mansion, a great family who own a couple of mills. They had funded a hospital and library. as everything changed like many mills they closed. The city is trying to revitalize, it will take time but I see big things here !

I'm still in Delaware. I'm waking up from my food coma. I'm about to go to the YMCA and swim with my granddaughter.

My soon to be ex called to talk to our granddaughter yesterday. That was weird. She is very jealous that I am spending 2 weeks with our granddaughter and our son will hardly talk to her. Long story.

[IMG] Thadeus and Theodore. You have to wonder what Thadeus is thinking with that angry look. He would slap and run. Theodore was larger and he always took Thadeus's devilment with an ignore him attitude.

    It's rotten weather here too.
    Raining and a chilly 7C.
Hail yesterday and two died in last night's storms with 100 mph winds bringing down trees.

We've had the windows open here for over a week, now. It's currently 62 F. Lovely.

My husband had hernia surgery on Wednesday, so we're dealing with that. Only 5% of hernia surgery patients spend the night at the hospital. My husband should have been one of those people. They sent him home way too soon. That first night was pretty rough. He's doing better, but with three hernias, he has five surgical sites. The actual pain is mostly related to the gas, though.

I never got around to making my turkey sides. I made the bird in our air fryer on Tuesday, and also the gravy. No matter; he's only interested in toast and peanut butter, anyway. LOL. He's craving mashed potatoes and gravy, now. That, I can do.

    Cheers.

    That's maximum gust.
Didn't hit down here in Suffolk though. The worst of it was up in the North East.

20211128_092920.jpg took some shipping crate wood and made this trim. Now to stain it and put it up. Will make it so no chicken wire snags clothing...or anything else.

Being by myself and not wanting to devote too much time to cooking, I've taken to making these frozen hunks of turkey that come double-bagged, with the inner bag staying on (with slits cut) during baking. It also comes with frozen gravy in a pouch, to which drippings and/or water can be added. Easy yet very good. Add in some cranberry sauce, canned yams, and stove top stuffing, and tada! A quick 'n easy Thanksgiving dinner that can't be beat.

Pallet flats or whatever they are called are made with some really nice wood pieces. Do you use the wood from them for your projects?

Yes, I really like some of the oak that comes from them. I have some longer stuff....about 6ft. and longer that would make beautiful oak flooring. But I need a lot for that. I am going to go by where I used to work. That use a lot of 4x4 stuff to put under steel on the trucks. It works up to some fine stuff.

I just found a pallet treasury. I had to sign a waiver but it is worth it. I am thinking about a making a small factory like setup to upcycle the wood. Storage is a premium. Even dry wood gets invaded by bugs and stuff so.....I am going to set up a drum of water and borax powder. Clean the wood from nails, put the wood in the barrel, and dry. This should keep bugs out during storage. Then set up my saw and other tools. Could be fun.

You'd have liked the packing crate I just sawed into firewood.
Some sort of south American hardwood.
Harder than oak. The chain overheats on the chainsaw after 5 mins.
I'm literally burning the rainforest here.

    It's great firewood though...
