    Oh come now! Must not be that bad if you noticed the other guy was that bad!!!

    Nah, they intv'd a woman who said she'd been working a desk job and hadn't gotten a raise in years. Said she was training to earn more money. Another guy said he wanted to see the country and this looked like a good way to get paid to do it.

    I had to LOL... thinking of my friend who drove for JB Hunt and got himself stuck on a road closed due to snow drifts in NJ and had to back out over 5 miles. He wasn't too crazy about seeing that part of the country anymore!

    Ya know... I used to be a dispatcher... among my other high-level jobs. Mostly worked with the large trucking firms, but also had my share of dealing with Land Star drivers. LOVED that job... just not enough money.

    They're the office staff - they're not qualified to do roadtests. They just want it done so they can complete his employment paperwork.

    So... I get the honor and priviledge of roadtesting Mr. Stinky. :cry:

    LOL, perfect couple indeed. If I got mad @ you, off to NJ you'd be going!

    The logistics company I worked for was minority-owned (I was their token white)... and had some very lucrative DOD contracts. Anytime one of about 10 military bases needed to ship anything, they'd call me. We got some good ones. From 2 cases of c-rations to an entire helicopter... we hauled it all!

    (I doubt that's you, but even if it is... he's kinda cute!) ;)

    did y'all not hear what I said?

    2000 open driver positions to be filled. The mayor said they are listing 500 new jobs PER DAY!

    They have started fracking and there is a full-fledged oil boom in progress.

    They are building "man camps" to house all the new hires.

    If you know someone struggling to find a job, tell them. This is not a fluke, it's happening.

    Thats excellent! Im so torn. We wont sign a lease to frac drill on our property because of enviormental issues but........... Im happy people have jobs.

    It's more than just driving jobs. It takes drillers, nondestructive testers, amongst many others including all the support needed to create/maintain a whole new town/industry.

    No, the fleabaggers would not be interested in these jobs - oil men work for a living.

    Fa, you are right to be concerned. I think you should know that here an environmental group joined with an oil concern to look at safer ways to frack...and they are finding them. We are on the cusp of a safe method.

    Shang, I assume they are called man camps because they hold the "manpower"...not really a reference to gender. could be wrong.

    North Dakota, wow. We were in Minot last year mid October and we had a hard time finding a Motel or Hotel. The people said it was because of the workers building roads or some type of construction. It was busy there. Jobs were aplenty back then.

    they say, compared to the job scene around the rest of the country, that its like a different world up there right now.

    I think this is a good thing. and hopefully when they get it producing, we will see some ease in fuel costs.
