    2) Have you eaten a Fletcher's corn dog at the Texas State Fair? Yup

    3) Have you been to the Astrodome? nah, past, not to

    4) Have you been to the Alamo? Is this a trick question?

    5) Have you drunk a Pearl beer? 'course

    6) Have you been to at least 2 of these 2 lakes: Lake Whitney, Possum Kingdom, and Lake of the Pines? Yep...and Amistad, Brownwood, White River, Ransom and Buffalo Lakes, too.

    7) Have you been to Lubbock? born there, Goodnight Hosp. Haynes, Evans, Monterey, TT

8 ) Have you been to San Angelo? Yes

    9) Have you been to Brownsville? Yes, and Matamoros

    10) Have you been to NASA Houston at the JSC? No

    11) Have you toured the Battleship Texas? Nope, been to the Lex when she was in Pensacola...where she should be now (but that's another story)

    12) Have you been to Big Bend? Of course!

    Extra Credit:

    a) Have you swam in the Rio Grande? Git drunk 'nuff, hot 'nuff, (*)(*)(*)(*) happens.

    b) Have you been to Mule Shoe, TX (TX/NM border, and no reason to be found dead there!) I have plenty family in Muleshoe, thank ye. Been to many a family reunion up there.

Yeah Green Bay played today and they creamated Denver. I don't know what happened to The cowboys as they were on top in the first half and in the second half they just laid down it seemed.

LOL, ya gotta have something to wile away the time while you're sitting in those storm cellars, waiting for a twister to blow your house to smithereens!

Me & my cousin had ponies. And we swam in irrigation ditches. Once killed a jack rabbit and tried to skin it and cook it out on the prairie. Only thing... we didn't know anything about guttin it first!

Got sick from eatin raw peanuts... got oats in every possible orifice of my body from riding in a trailer next to a harvester.

Ahhh, yes, those were good times!

LOL, not from a kid's point of view. I hardly noticed the sandstorms!

We need some yankee stories in this bar. Didn't yankee kids do anything interesting when they were growing up?

Somehow, I gotta think falena did. Subby, too. Not sure our Mary got wild until she got grown... her being a MS and all. ;)

    Lets see Yankee stories.

Winters were waiting for it to snow so we didnt have to go to school. The feel of cold air when you breath and the smell of clean winter air. Snots running down your nose and your legs beet red because you were so cold but didnt wanna go inside. Homemade hot chocolate with real coco and peppermint candy when you finally came in.

Building snow forts and stacking up snowballs to bomb the other side so we could storm their fort smash it up and throw snow on top of them. lol Oh yeah and building snow caves and tunnels not knowing it could collapse and kill us. When you crawl threw a snow cave the snow is so white it almost looks blue and the sound is deadening. Very cool! We would build them so you could sit up in an area. Oh yeah and stack as much snow as possible near the patio so we could jump off the patio roof into the snow pile.

Summers were fishing in a nearby lake or ocean water. Walking out on breakers and fishing and finding starfish stuck to the rocks. Trying to pay attention to the tides so you didn't get stranded on the breakers but always getting soaked coming back 'cause we waited to long. We didn't have a bunch of high tech toys or stuff. We had rope, chalk, a baseball that better never go in the neighbors yard or you wouldn't get it back and bats. We would set up bases in the street. The telephone pole was 3rd base. I learned how to own a mistake when I broke the neighbors side mirror on her car and had to go ring her bell and say I did it and earn money from a paper route I helped a friend with to repay her for the repairs. She never took the money in the end and thanked me for being honest. It was a great lesson I never forgot. We swam in the pool we had and played hide and seek and simon says and games like that. Had a bow and arrow and almost killed the cat with it. lol In the fall we raked leaves in piles to jump in and stuffed clothes to make leaf men that one time we put red food coloring on and left face down in the road by the stop sign and caught hell for. Oh and stoled that stop sign once and learned another lesson. Mom said you go put that back right now and pray to Jesus in Heaven no one gets killed because that sign is not there. :omg: We ran back to put it back up and walked slowly back home because the wooden spoon was on the table waiting for my mom to swing it.

I'm sure I will think of a bunch more stuff. Thing is we grew up old school. A very conservative Italian neighborhood with people who respected each other and help each other but minded their own business. I had one friend that I met when I was still in diapers and I just got off the phone with him. 54 years later we still are best friends and I promised to change his diapers if needed when is is an old man. Best friends till the end. Old school stuff.

Mornina y'all....yankee bar, huh? Okay...I'll try to behave.

Sickening end to an otherwise awesome game yesterday. Would be the day the kids wanted to come out for lunch and watching the game. My oldest was fit to be tied when he went home, bless his heart. I generally leave him alone for a few days after his boys lose. Now, he says he's got two weeks to stew over it, since we have a bye next week. Grandson is getting used to the noise we all make during the games, though. He's even joining in, now...LOL

Bike rally is over, all that's left is the trash to clean up, now. Perfect weather the entire weekend. My Marine 'bout whipped some jerk over my parking spot, but other than that, smooth sailing. I was hoping I hadn't gotten downtown in time to go bail him out...LOL

    Great stories Yankee.
Oh yes, long time friends are the best. Got a diaper friend myself, and several 25+ (that's all she said) year friends.
God, family, friends, a good day's work, what more can you ask for. Makes you content.

    Good morning, fans of Monday!

Great stories, falena! The mention of chalk reminded me of how glad I was to get back to Dallas from my stint in West Texas... where there were no sidewalks! We rarely had the luxury of chalk, but could always find a limestone rock to draw a hopscotch field on concrete!

I feel sorry for kids who don't know how to entertain themselves these days. Lord help 'em if the computer goes down or cable goes out. Ever looked at a teenager's facebook page? It's downright scary to think this is our future! :omg:

Morning, Smartie! Love the West Texas stories. In another lifetime, I was relocated to Lubbock, then Sunray (home of Dan Blocker), Littlefield. I was horrified at the red dirt storms...all that stuff creeping in through the walls and under doors. The West Texas I grew up in had dirt storms, complete with tumbleweeds. The things I don't miss about home...LOL

LOL...my halo is a bit tarnished, but I still wear it proud!

Our big bike rally was this weekend, 100,000's of bikes in the area. Perfect weather for it, but glad they're gone now..LOL It's cool for a while to hear all those bikes roaring around, but then four or five straight days of it is plenty.

The baby....what can I say? He's pretty well perfect. I had a ball with him Saturday, then the kids came out to watch the Cowboys break our hearts yesterday, and so mom could fix them a good meal..LOL Nonnie rocked him to sleep and held him the entire nap...love, love, love! He and his mom and dad were all decked out in their Cowboy attire, too cute. Check out my new profile pic..you're gonna love it.

Missed ya, girlfriend! And, I agree with Smartie...great choice for mod!

OMG! that so reminds me of one spring. A late and very heavy snow.
We could open the door and go out on the covered porch but the snow was too deep to get off the porch...so we made a snow tunnel.

It just so happened that it had been my kid sis's bd...and all her "little" friends were there. My friend and I were stuck in the house with an entire sleepover of "little" girls.

Mom let us "older" kids dig our way through the snow to the fence line where we climbed from there to the rooftop...and jumped off into the snow.

Thinking back it must have been quite dangerous, don't think anyone thought of that! Only that we were snowed in...for 3 days! What fun! 'cept fer them squealers *sigh*

Almost as much fun as partying on my 32nd bd, walking out of a nightclub in FLA to discover snow falling....in mid-March!...I'll bet it was the only time, ever.

Have you ever seen the remake of The Women?

Remember the make-up scene with Meg Ryan and Diane Keaton on the stoop? Yeah, lifelong friends are like that.

    Great movie, both versions.
If you haven't seen it/them -- put it/them on your list for your next chick flick movie-time!
