So be it. Don't you get it?

    People...

WE DONT COLLECT ENOUGH IN TAXES.

You could collect 100% from the uber-wealthy .1% and it STILL WOULDNT PAY THE BILLS.

Take money from SS? When did I ever say that. Please don't put words in my mouth.

If, by chance, you were referring to my earlier discussions, yes the SS scare is grossly exaggerated. Still, it wouldn't hurt if the gov't would stop using the SS fund and allocating towards other budgets.

But I still think it can be reformed.

This is what I do not understand.
    Republicans- Make everyone pay taxes
Democrats- Raise taxes on the Rich

    Why not do both..

Look at you whining about a comparatively puny amount of money.

You promote tax policy that can cost me tens of thousands of dollars, and I'm supposed to be upset about your $20 increase?

    Get bent.

    You are absolutely correct, Rapunzel.

Democrats do not like it when people become too successful.

Most liberals want to pay people not to work.

Conservatives practice the following economic theory.

"If you give a man a fish, as the liberals often do, you feed him for a day; if you teach a man to fish and he then becomes a successful small business owner, you feed him and the people he employs for a lifetime."

Another Faux News lie. First, if you're going with that argument, it's the 2%, not .1%. And secondly, that's assuming we pay it off RIGHT NOW. That's simply pointless because nobody is expecting a short term answer to the deficit issue.

No its not a lie. What does faux news have to do with this?

Are we just assuming the rest of the world will buy our needed debts forever? How about for 50 years? How about for 20?

From who might you think this will come from?

    China - recession looming
    Russia - in your dreams
Europe - on the verge of financial collapse

Guess what? Banking on the rest of the world to buy our debts endlessly is nonsense.

The MATH says - "We don't collect enough taxes". Remember the deficit commission appointed by the chosen one?

    Enough said.

We need to tax more, everyone. I hate it but its just BASIC math.

Why do people like you generalize so much.
Of course money isn't free. It is pure crap though when you pay for a entire war on borrowed money, then get mad and blame the 'Democrap Leftards' for wanting to cut taxes for working people. About your point about the Bush Tax Cuts, democrats support extending it, just not for 2% of the people on them.

WASHINGTON — Who is paying for the two-month extension of the payroll tax cut working its way through Congress? The cost is being dropped in the laps of most people who buy homes or refinance beginning next year.

The typical person who buys a $200,000 home or refinances that amount starting on Jan. 1 would have to pay roughly $17 more a month for their mortgage, thanks to a fee increase included in the payroll tax cut bill that the Senate passed Saturday. The White House said the fee increases would be phased in gradually.

The legislation provides a two-month extension of a payroll tax cut and long-term unemployment benefits that would otherwise expire on Jan. 1. It would also delay for two months a cut in Medicare reimbursements for doctors that is scheduled to take effect on New Year’s Day. The House is expected to act on the bill early next week. Two more months of the Social Security tax cut amounts to a savings of about $165 for a worker making $50,000 a year.

To cover its $33 billion price tag, the measure increases the fee that the government-backed mortgage giants, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, charge to insure home mortgages. That fee, which Senate aides said currently averages around 0.3 percentage point, would rise by 0.1 percentage point under the bill. The increase will also apply to people whose mortgages are backed by the Federal Housing Administration, which typically serves lower-income and first-time buyers.

The higher fee would not apply to people who currently have mortgages unless they refinance beginning next year.

    http://www.suntimes.com/news/950474...sion-adds-17-a-month-to-typical-mortgage.html

These ‘fees’ do not expire unlike the ‘extensions’. All in the future who finance or refinance their home purchase/mortgage via Freddie and Fannie will pay them for the length of their mortgage. So it is really a ‘tax’ increase primarily on the middle class as they are the ones who utilize Fannie/Freddie.

You don't seem to understand, Obama, the House Democrats, the House Republicans, the Senate Republicans and even lots of Senate Democrats want a TWELVE MONTH extension.

This two month is one of the most stupid ideas I have ever seen. It's dumb, it will cause havoc in the work place and it's about a $116 dollars versus over a thousand for a full year.

Senate Democrats get back and do your job and pass a good bill.

Could it be that you don't know how Dems plan to pay for this payroll tax extension? Add that to the list of things you should have been aware of before starting this thread.

Business owners and others who do not have witholdings pay their taxes quarterly not every two months, all the tax software programs calculate on a quarterly basis. Payroll companies have to change their software to calculate the different rates and when exactly it starts. And then it stops and then it starts. They have to plan ahead to do all that and be prepared. All this jockying around prevents them from doing so.

IF they are going to extend it then do it for the twelve months not a measly two and then it increases and then they lower it again later.

That being said, what about the hole they are putting into future social security funds, you do know that is where this is coming from and we already don't bring in enough to meet what is going out.

The Democrats are going to stiff you for 10 more months after that 2 months run out. Republicans want to put hundreds more in your wallet.

Where do you think the money is coming from, SS is already borrowing from general funds to meet obligations.

This is coming right out of the DNC playbook:Elections are coming and the Progressives want to paint the GOP as "obstructionists" as much as they can.

Yep. They figure the country has too short of an attention span to remember all of the failures in Obama's first 3 years. Unfortunately, they are probably right.

Obama said he wanted a 12 month extension, why isn't he joining with the House to force the Senate to pass one?

Most of them are not Obama's failures, but Washington as a whole.
Obama is Washington, so he takes some blame.

I've said it all along, if the bush tax cuts gotta go up, they go up for all us. I'll gladly shrink my tax return in order to hear you pigs cry.

Me? I'm gonna man up and pay my share and think of it as the price I gotta pay for yet another stunning Republican Victory against Obama and the Democrats.

    Suck it liberals.

You may hate it and criticize them for it, but me.. I see it as just one more spanking handed over to those narcissists in the West Wing.

Obama is the leader of the band, the coach of the team. When a team has 2 or 3 losing seasons, it's the coach that gets fired.

Since you liberals are always complaining people don't pay enough taxes, well here is your chance. You should feel grateful having all your money wasted by politicians spending it on morbidly obese people, and not to forget all the alcoholics and drug addicts all of them collecting social security. Don't you feel better now?

Millionaires that have wages paid from their corporations will also have their taxes go up. Now you must really feel better.
