Yeah I fixed it, but a coach also gets a few years to put his 'plays' (policies) when he is on a rebuilding team. This is why I think a presidential term should be eight year so the president (D or R) can focus on the problems instead of Campaigning.
That's the question all right. And when those 160,000,000 Americans who are living on the edge go to the polls, they surely know the Republicans have no interest whatsoever in their well-being. Something else I wonder every year is why they choose to do this to people at Christmas time. They seem to get a real kick out of cutting people's salaries or ending their unemployment benefits right in the middle of the holidays.
I really don't get it. For years you libs have been crying about getting back to the tax structure we had under Clinton, and now that we are a step closer to that goal, you say people's salaries are being cut? Why so hypocritical? Do you honestly think people are not going to notice? People will remember that Republicans wanted a 1 year extension of this tax cut, whereas the Democrats only allowed for 2 months.
I used to think you were a smart Conservative who didn't spout off Extreme Rhetoric because he was on the internet. I was wrong.
Let's see the Republicans want to enact a 12 month extension which will save the average family about $1000 and the Senate Democrats are holding out for a 2 month which will save that average family about $100. And who has the interest of those people in mind?
The Republicans are going to take the Senate bill and change one word. They are going to change "two month extension" to "twelve month extension" and send it back to Harry Reid and dare him not to pass it and dare Obama, who said he wanted a 12 month extension, not to sign it. Then there will be a victory.
1. I agree it should be 12 months. 2. I don't agree, the bill was very Partisan, and the Democrats can't get a Partisan bill past the Senate either because of the Filibuster, so both sides are being hypocritical.
So you think borrowing more from China is a better option for money we don't have? Christmas is a great time to remind people about the tax increase, they will be forced to pay cash for their stuff instead of running up more massive debt like Obama.
I hope they do, I agree with Republican's here, I think the pipeline should be involved. Sadly it is politics, which both sides play into.
You're exactly right - letting a tax cut expire is NOT a tax increase and it's exactly the same whether it's for the 1% or the middle class. Conservatives decried letting the tax cuts expire as "raising taxes on the wealthy", didn't they? But they don't consider letting the payroll tax cut expire as raising taxes on the poor and middle class. Republicans have now made it very clear whose best interests they're going to protect. They're sticking with the 1% at the expense of their working constituents who will all feel the effects of their choice. I hope every person who gets hit with higher taxes beginning the first of the year has it burned into their brains WHY they have to cut their food budget or drop their health insurance or can't buy shoes for their children as a result and exactly WHO they should blame for it and express their opinions when they go to the polls in 2012.
Senate Dems will just make up some more BS and spin this to fool their idiot voters. Never underestimate their ability to deceive.
Conversely we need to SPEND LESS. Stop food stamps Stop welfare End social security with this generation End medicare/caid LOOK AT THE SAVINGS!!! Why is the answer always take more money from us working stiffs and never put the pinch to the leeches??? All of the social programs above take care of things that could be handled on a state and local level if need be, more efficiently too. These used to be the responsibilities of family and community. Ever since the federal government got involved our nation has spiralled out of control.
Then please explain to us why the democrats, when they controlled both houses, then Obama becomes president, why in those two years didn't they raise taxes on the wealthy that they now continue to target? Maybe you could also explain why democrats refuse to discuss and pass a balanced budget amendment? Why don't democrats want to close major loopholes in our tax code? Or better yet, endorse a flat tax? We can wait to hear your spin.
"Shared sacrifice" should include the wealthy, too, shouldn't it? The top 1% and the Republicans clearly don't want to sacrifice anything for their country and they're making that perfectly clear right now.
Then why didn't they pass it weeks ago? Why did they have to attach all that crap to the bill? Either YOU are being hypocritical, or you are only listening to Right wing propaganda.
Don't make sense. First Democrats say we should pay more taxes. Now it looks like we will come Jan. one and now they say Republicans want to take money from them and give to the government. They either can't make up their mind what they want, or they just follow what ever their leaders say without question. No matter if it's the exact opposite of what they were saying just weeks ago.
So what you are saying is that its only ok for libs to use fuzzy math and underhanded wordplay? When its a republican they have to choose every word they speak from a dictionary and follow its exact definition.
Considering the wealthy do pay taxes and 47-51% of the country does not, I would argue that the wealthy are already sacrificing plenty. Time for you people who cry about "shared sacrifice" to put your money where your mouth is. Your bluff has been called.
All that crap is a pipeline that will create thousands of jobs. Many of them union jobs. Isn't that what Obama wants to do, create jobs?
Are you including the multi-million dollar corporations that pay nothing in taxes every year? Corporations are people, after all. How much do you want someone making $10/12,000 to pay? I asume you're willing to increase their social services supplements to make up the difference since they can't live on what they're making now?
