We no longer try to stem the flow.

Can you describe the policy changes Biden has made?

That's a good point. The aide's time is certainly more valuable than Biden's.

You may not be able to get a work VISA by applying (you need an employer to do it for you), but you can apply to get a work PERMIT. You can also apply for a green card which will allow you to work.

Point is, there are many ways in which you can apply to get a job here in the US as a LEGAL immigrant. And you don't have to do it here in the US. You can apply for these things outside of the US at any authorized border crossing point or embassy, or you can even use snail mail.

You can't just apply for a work permit or a green card either.

    That isn't how it works.

For the longest time people also believed that illegal aliens did not get tax returns. Used to be one of the lefts main talking points on why we should legalize illegal aliens.

Reading this thread, it's obvious the dems do not care about the illegal immigration. They do not care of the homeless camps across the streets of El Paso and they do not care how the property owners near the border are affected on a daily basis by this. They don't care how Texans are affected or what Abbot does to try to help the situation. All republicans and Texans need to just keep letting them in ......... but don't DARE send any of the illegals to the dems areas or they will kick and scream bloody murder at the republicans.

The only solution is to vote the dems out so the immigration can become a top priority.

Like hell there is little the President can do. Biden can stop encouraging them to come here via things like not raising his hand to give illegal immigrants health insurance:

Biden can stop encouraging them to come here via things like saying that people that are undocumented should not be deported:

Biden can stop encouraging them to come here by trying to implement things like 100 day freezes on all deportations even when they've received their final order of removal. LINK: Biden WH imposes 100-day 'pause' on deportations of illegal immigrants | Fox News

I can go on and on.

Actually, yes, you can. Are there fee's to pay? Yep. Are background checks required? Yep. Are there other things required? Yep. But you start the process by simply turning in an application...IE: APPLYING. Just as with any other application, additional things are required of a person. But it all starts with the application.

    Um no.

If you don't have someone to petition for you as the basis for a green card, you aren't going to get one

You also aren't going to get a work permit unless you qualify, and 95% of the people crossing the border aren't going to be eligible for a green card or work permit.

They can apply for work Visa's though....Look tough titty you weren't born here, you don't get to be an automatic citizen, you have to be a good visitor and people to sponsor or marry you for that right. Plenty of people are awaiting visa approvals, in fact over 1.5 million standing in line while 3m swimming a river to Biden's haven. It's a joke and it's exactly what the wacko left wants.

They can't apply for work visas. That isn't how it works.

There isn't a line these people can just get in and wait long enough. They will never be eligible for the right to work or live here under the current law, and no amount of being a good citizen or waiting patiently will change that.

So that gives them the excuse to ignore our laws? That gives them the excuse to jump the line of people who ARE doing things correctly and doing the things you say aren't possible? What limit do you put on people coming here illegally? Any at all?

Our immigration law is insufficient to deal with our immigration issue. The law needs to be designed to deal with the problem we have, not the situation we wish for.

Congress needs to do something, that is the only way anything is going to change.

No, according to the article, the government did in fact change the way we count these things. From the article:

On the other side of the ledger, the number of people deported at or near the border has gone up — primarily as a result of changing who gets counted in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency’s deportation statistics.

    And:

The shift in who gets tallied helped the administration look tough in its early years

    And:

Those removals, which during the 1990s reached more 1 million a year, were not counted in Immigration and CustomsEnforcement’s deportation statistics.

The people crossing today aren't even eligible for expedited removal. They aren't Mexicans.

No where is it talking about Mexicans. It is referring to people who cross the border from Mexico(could be any nationality) getting sent back to the country they crossed from.

You can disagree with the government all you want, and you can disagree with the LA Times all you want, but at least we know that how they were counted was changed.

The only people who can get expedited removal are people from countries that border the US. That is what the law says.

You can't deport a Guatemalan to Mexico.

Your first statement unequivocally not true. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was caught on leaked audio telling border agents the current crisis is “unsustainable.”
