I guess if you write enough vague verses eventually one of them will be similar to the world around us. Not much different from Nostradamus.

My favourite scientific truth in the Quran is that salt and fresh water can not mix.

It is actually quite an absurdity. Given a certain measure (x) of salt water and a certain measure (3x) of fresh water, put them in the same container and they will mix. Each will acquire properties of the other, making the fresh water salty, and making the original salt water less salty. But they still mix.

Fundies, such as yourself, took over. If you go back about 1000 years before their fundies took over the Muslim world was the most scientifically advanced.

I am a fundamentalist? Are you absolutely sure? Can you back up this claim with anything I've ever said?

    If not, shut your piehole.

Thank you for taking the time to read the articles before replying....

They do not mix in the ocean.

Is this even worth responding too.

First off, during the Islamic Golden Age Muslims discovered many things.

Secondly, I don't care how many Nobel Prizes Jews have won. It's irrelevant to this thread. Go troll somewhere else....

The Islamic Golden Age thrived as Europe was in a disasterour state. It's too bad it had to end.

It's best to take your own advice.

According to some, the Islamic Golden Age is only a myth.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age

It is possible that anti-Catholic historians created this myth in an attempt to make the Catholic Church look bad in comparison. It is also possible that the myth was created by apologists for Islam to distract from Islam's backwardness of today.

Anyway, there's not much to boast about if the last scientific contribution of your civilization was 1000 years ago.

Admit that Islam oppresses scientific progress and I will go away.

And according to some, God doesn't exist... Why should I care what a CRITIC of Islam says?

Regardless of the Islamic Golden Age, this thread is about science in the Quran comparing with modern science of today....

There is no science in the Koran. It is the rantings of a lunatic.

I take it you didn't even bother reading the articles.

But whatever, you seem to love being ignorant. It allows you to make things up.

There is plenty of science in the Quran. And these are things that weren't know during the time. This is why I asked people to read the two links before replying.

I don't care if you like or dislike Islam, I'd just like to have a real discussion about something involving Islam without it turning into a meaningless discussion about the religion. I'd like both views on THIS topic, however it's sad that the opposing view is so unrational and ignorant that people opposed to Islam have to turn this into another "false religion" thread.

If you want, feel free to make a thread on the validity of Islam. Nobody is stopping you.

Now, if you don't have anything more to say on the topic of this thread, I'm going to stop replying to you. It's a waste of my time, responding to the anti-Islamic trolls.

If you have a different view on the Quran and modern science comparision, share it.

    Salam

Hit the keys on your keyboard at random. Eventually you'll type a word. Doesn't make it anything but random.

I did read the article, the verses are vague. They do not explicitly describe the events described in science. As I said, if you write enough vague verses eventually they will resemble something.

    That's a vague explanation ;)

I'll post the verses from the website below (just a random site I found right now), not explain what they mean, and see if people can figure it out themselves when looking at modern day science.

For explanations on all the verses go here: http://www.islam-guide.com/ch1-1.htm (the verses are in order per each chapter and each chapters verses is seperated with a space)

We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... (Quran, 23:12-14)

Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs? (Quran, 78:6-7)
And He has set firm mountains in the earth so that it would not shake with you... (Quran, 16:15)

Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke... (Quran, 41:11)

No! If he does not stop, We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)! (Quran, 96:15-16)

He has set free the two seas meeting together. There is a barrier between them. They do not transgress. (Quran, 55:19-20)
He is the one who has set free the two kinds of water, one sweet and palatable, and the other salty and bitter. And He has made between them a barrier and a forbidding partition. (Quran, 25:53)

Or (the unbelievers’ state) is like the darkness in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds. Darknesses, one above another. If a man stretches out his hand, he cannot see it.... (Quran, 24:40)

Have you not seen how God makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a stack, and then you see the rain come out of it.... (Quran, 24:43)
....And He sends down hail from mountains (clouds) in the sky, and He strikes with it whomever He wills, and turns it from whomever He wills. The vivid flash of its lightning nearly blinds the sight. (Quran, 24:43)

    Have fun :)

    Again, they are vague.

Little use alone, however just as with Nostradamus "predictions", they can be attributed to any number of things in the correct context.

Okay, then do it with those verses. What do they mean?

There is no consistency....The Quran teaches that salt water and fresh water do not mix together. Which is false.

That can mean any number of things, including and excluding "creation".

I believe The Elegant Universe and The Greatest Show on Earth would be far better sources for information.

OJLeb if you want to learn about science, read a science book.

The Koran is the random rantings of a man under the delusion he was a prophet.

The Koran has no intrinsic value because it does not reflect religious truth, historical truth, scientific truth, or any other kind of truth.
