Newly Unearthed Emails Show Trump Attorneys Coordinating Fake Electors

Faced with loss in the 2020 election, Trump campaign attorneys built an elaborate mind palace in which the former president could steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

The problem was, building that universe required persuading real people to lie — not in the imaginary world where Trump reversed his loss, but in the actual world where lying has consequences.

Emails first released by the Jan. 6 Committee that have not previously been reported on in detail reveal how several key Trump attorneys coordinated the actions of two fake electors from the state of Nevada — both of whom have now reportedly received immunity in exchange for testimony in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation.

The emails show Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro directing would-be fake electors Jim DeGraffenreid and Michael McDonald how to become fake electors — a topic now at the center of Smith’s review of Trump’s effort to reverse the 2020 election. Private messages, also released by the committee, show that McDonald, DeGraffenreid, and other Nevada fake electors were eager to participate in what Chesebro described to them as an effort to “keep alive the possibility that the votes could be flipped to Trump and Biden.”

This is the scheme of Rudy's design. Maybe that's why indications are he's going to squeal like a pig.

US conservative group led by billionaire Koch to spend big to beat Trump

June 29 (Reuters) - The conservative U.S. political network led by billionaire Charles Koch has raised over $70 million to spend on political races, an official with the group said on Thursday, with a key goal of stopping former President Donald Trump from clinching the 2024 Republican nomination.

The influential group, which pushes for tax cuts and less government regulation, is set to dive into the Republican presidential primaries for the first time in its two-decade history. Koch, ranked among the richest people in the world, compiled his wealth as an executive at his family's company Koch Industries, a conglomerate involved in fossil fuels, commodities and other businesses.

Expect a media post from Don bashing Koch any time now.

Top Trump campaign aide Susie Wiles met numerous times with special counsel investigators in documents probe

A senior campaign official for Donald Trump was allegedly shown a classified map by the former president during a meeting at his New Jersey golf club after Trump left office, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The campaign adviser, Susie Wiles, has spoken to federal investigators numerous times as part of the special counsel’s Mar-a-Lago documents probe, multiple sources told CNN.

Wiles is not named in Jack Smith’s indictment of Trump, but a source familiar with the matter identified her as the “representative of his political action committee” who is referenced in the indictment.

Probably not the portion of the left that actually knows what the truth is doesn't care, and the useful idiots continue to believe whatever crap the Biden Admin puts out no matter how little connected to reality.

Ex-Comms Director Says She Saw Trump Show Classified Docs To Mar-a-Lago Visitors

Stephanie Grisham, former communications director and press secretary for then-President Donald Trump, revealed on Saturday that she has seen Trump showing classified documents to people at his Palm Beach resort.

“I watched him show documents to people at Mar-a-Lago on the dining room patio,” Grisham told MSNBC. “He has no respect for classified information. Never did… to be showing [classified documents] to people who haven’t gone through the extreme vetting that you go through to get a clearance, it’s you know, it’s a disservice to the country, but it also puts people in danger potentially.”

Grisham’s comments come as special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment revealed that the former President was recorded saying he knew he had classified documents within the boxes he took with him after leaving the White House. The recording also indicated he discussed sensitive documents with people who didn’t have security clearance. Smith’s indictment included a partial transcript of the recording but the audio in question was recently obtained by CNN.

The mountain of evidence at Smith's disposal is looking like Mt. Everest.

Trump aide Walt Nauta set to be arraigned in classified documents case

Walt Nauta, former President Donald Trump’s valet and co-defendant in the classified documents case, is set to appear before a federal judge Thursday to enter a plea on six criminal charges.

Nauta’s arraignment in U.S. District Court in Miami comes more than three weeks after Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 criminal counts related to his alleged efforts to hold onto top secret documents after leaving the White House in 2021.

The Navy veteran and body man for the former president appeared at that initial June 13 court hearing, but he was not arraigned because he did not have a local Florida lawyer there to represent him. Nauta’s arraignment was delayed until June 27, but that was also postponed because his flight to Miami was cancelled.

As much as I want to I can't feel sorry for a person who enabled Trump's criminal endeavor.

4 revelations from the latest unsealed records in the Trump classified documents case

We now have more information about how prosecutors conducted their search for classified documents that former President Donald Trump kept after leaving office, despite court orders requiring that he turn them over.

On Wednesday, a magistrate judge unsealed additional portions of an affidavit submitted by federal authorities when they sought a court order allowing them to raid Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida last August. It has new details on security footage that showed boxes of documents being moved and the interactions Trump’s lawyers had with prosecutors. But it still leaves some questions about the case unanswered, including how prosecutors came to suspect that Trump hadn’t turned over all of the documents in his possession.

The new version of the affidavit was released just before Trump’s body man Walt Nauta, who was indicted last month alongside the former president, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him Thursday. He has been accused of allegedly acting at Trump’s direction to move boxes of documents at Mar-a-Lago in an attempt to hide them from prosecutors. Trump has also pleaded not guilty to all 37 counts in the indictment, including willful retention of national defense information under the Espionage Act and one count of false statements and representations.

Nauta on tape moving classified docs. When the FBI asked him if he knew anything about docs being moved he said no. Note to Walt, plead guilty and hope for a lighter prison sentence.

Exclusive: Special counsel prosecutors question witnesses about chaotic Oval Office meeting after Trump lost the 2020 election

Special counsel Jack Smith’s team has signaled a continued interest in a chaotic Oval Office meeting that took place in the final days of the Trump administration, during which the former president considered some of the most desperate proposals to keep him in power over objections from his White House counsel. Multiple sources told CNN that investigators have asked several witnesses before the grand jury and during interviews about the meeting, which happened about six weeks after Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. Some witnesses were asked about the meeting months ago, while several others have faced questions about it more recently, including Rudy Giuliani.

Last month, for two consecutive days, Giuliani sat down with investigators for a voluntary interview about a range of topics, including the tumultuous December 2020 meeting that he attended, sources said. Prosecutors have specifically inquired about three outside Trump advisers who participated in the meeting: former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, one-time national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, sources said.

Grand jurors who will consider Trump charges to be selected Tuesday

The selection of two Fulton County grand juries will be made Tuesday, with one of the panels expected to decide whether to hand up an indictment for alleged criminal interference in the 2020 presidential election.

One set of jurors is likely to be asked to bring formal charges against former President Donald Trump and other well-known political and legal figures. In a letter to county officials almost two months ago, District Attorney Fani Willis indicated the indictment could be obtained at some point between July 31 and Aug. 18.

Prosecutors Ask Witnesses Whether Trump Acknowledged He Lost 2020 Race

Federal prosecutors investigating former President Donald J. Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election have questioned multiple witnesses in recent weeks — including Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner — about whether Mr. Trump had privately acknowledged in the days after the 2020 election that he had lost, according to four people briefed on the matter.

The line of questioning suggests prosecutors are trying to establish whether Mr. Trump was acting with corrupt intent as he sought to remain in power — essentially that his efforts were knowingly based on a lie — evidence that could substantially bolster any case they might decide to bring against him.

Mr. Kushner testified before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Washington last month, where he is said to have maintained that it was his impression that Mr. Trump truly believed the election was stolen, according to a person briefed on the matter.

Justice Department urges judge to not postpone Trump’s classified documents trial

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department urged a judge Thursday to reject Donald Trump’s efforts to postpone his classified documents trial, saying there was no basis for an “open-ended” delay sought by the former president’s lawyers.

Federal prosecutors last month proposed a Dec. 11 trial for Trump, who is charged with 37 felony counts related to the mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate, though the actual date will be up to the judge.

Trump’s lawyers countered this week with a request for an indefinite delay. They did not propose a specific date but said the case concerned novel legal issues, and that proceeding with a trial within six months was “unreasonable” and would “result in a miscarriage of justice.

Trump Organization staffer told they could be charged in documents case

Special counsel Jack Smith has sent a letter to a Trump Organization employee indicating that the worker could be indicted in connection with allegedly trying to obstruct the investigation into Donald Trump’s possession of classified documents after leaving office, a person with knowledge of the matter said.

The target letter is aimed at a low-level employee of Trump’s family business who had dealings at Mar-a-Lago, the former president’s Florida home and private club. The worker is not an executive or someone with significant decision-making authority, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

The Trump Organization manages Mar-a-Lago as well as Trump’s other properties, including the security systems. One focus of the classified-documents investigation has been surveillance video from Mar-a-Lago, which federal investigators subpoenaed and showed workers moving boxes in and out of the storage area where documents with classified markings were kept.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati.../14/trump-documents-target-letter-jack-smith/

The granularity of Smith's knowledge about the behind the scenes goings on of Don's attempts to obstruct the investigation should be concerning for Individual 1.

Trump and Allies Forge Plans to Increase Presidential Power in 2025

Donald J. Trump and his allies are planning a sweeping expansion of presidential power over the machinery of government if voters return him to the White House in 2025, reshaping the structure of the executive branch to concentrate far greater authority directly in his hands.

Their plans to centralize more power in the Oval Office stretch far beyond the former president’s recent remarks that he would order a criminal investigation into his political rival, President Biden, signaling his intent to end the post-Watergate norm of Justice Department independence from White House political control.

Mr. Trump and his associates have a broader goal: to alter the balance of power by increasing the president’s authority over every part of the federal government that now operates, by either law or tradition, with any measure of independence from political interference by the White House, according to a review of his campaign policy proposals and interviews with people close to him.

    All Insurrection-ing Is Local

A few developments over the last few days in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 investigation that I want to draw your attention to. A word of caution though: These developments are recently surfaced in the coverage, which isn’t the same thing as new.

We’re invariably limited in what we can see of Smith’s investigation, and there’s a tendency to frame up what we do see as if it mirrors the reality of what is going on. It may, but it also may not. Another tendency is to imbue newly surfaced developments with a sense of movement, like Jack Smith has turned his attention to the local angle. Again, maybe. But our view is very constrained, so our conclusion should be tentative and contingent.

With that out of the way, a few of the new data points:

    • Milwaukee’s top election official confirms that she spoke with Smith’s team last month virtually.
    • New Mexico’s secretary of state was interviewed by Smith’s team in “recent months”
    • Pennsylvania’s secretary of state met with Smith’s team in March.
    • Michigan’s secretary of state was interviewed for several hours by Smith’s team in March.

Georgia Supreme Court denies Trump bid to derail Fulton County election probe

ATLANTA — Georgia's Supreme Court on Monday denied Donald Trump's bid to halt the Fulton County district attorney's probe into whether the former president and his allies interfered in the state's 2020 presidential election.

The rejected petition was one of two Trump’s lawyers filed in different Georgia courthouses last week, both seeking to effectively derail District Attorney Fani Willis’ investigation into whether there were “coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections.”

The petition sought to disqualify Willis from investigating Trump and to quash a report from the special grand jury she used to help her investigation.

In a brief, unanimous ruling, the nine-judge state Supreme Court said what Trump was seeking "is not the sort of relief that this Court affords, at least absent extraordinary circumstances that Petitioner has not shown are present here."

"Moreover, even if the petition were procedurally appropriate, Petitioner has not shown that he would be entitled to the relief he seeks," the court said.

    CNN published this 210103,
    https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/03/politics/trump-brad-raffensperger-phone-call-transcript/index.html

Why is this taking so long?

Two years Ds had majority control of the House, Senate and Presidency and didn't even attempt to pass some sort of legislative reform to address the loopholes Trump was able to manipulate in the Executive Branch.

Seems to me that there is a decent argument to be made that the Constitution supports at a minimum the authority of the Speaker to override the President and direct the AG to enforce all subpoenas issued by the House in the process of an Impeachment.

    ***
Why is this taking so long?

Let's look at a significant legal and legislative as a result of the Enron debacle.

    Enron filed bankruptcy, 2001-12-02.

Congress passed and Bush signed Sarbanes-Oxley, 2002-07-30. Pretty Quick, eh?

Arthur Anderson goes out of business, 2002-08-31.

Andy Fastow is indicted on 78 counts of fraud, 2002-10-31.

Oooops! Nevermind, look how the courts then diverge the timeline!

Andy Fastow doesn't plead out until almost 16 months later, 2004-01-14.

A Grand Jury doesn't indict Ken Lay until 2004-07-07.

    ***
So, then, with respect to this attempt to influence the outcome of the GA election with this 2021-01-02 phone call,

We are now approaching T plus 36 months.

    ***
Trump knows the speed, methods & practices, and lots of loopholes of US Courts.

Michigan attorney general charges fake Trump electors over alleged 2020 election crimes

Michigan’s attorney general on Tuesday criminally charged 16 so-called “fake electors” for former President Donald Trump, accusing them of a fraudulent effort to reverse President Joe Biden’s victory in the state’s 2020 election.

The 16 people each face eight charges, including conspiracy, election law forgery, and uttering and publishing, state Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a video announcement.

Nessel called the alleged plan a “desperate effort” to “undermine democracy.” Several of the accused are active in Republican politics.

Nessel has not ruled out potential criminal charges against additional defendants, her office said.

The case is the first time that any members of fake Electoral College slates for Trump have been criminally charged.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2023/07/18/fake-trump-electors-charged-with-michigan-election-crimes.html

I'm beginning to feel better about the level of accountability for Trump and his criminal enterprise.

    Excellent. Thanks for sharing this.

The phrase used for the title of this Kansas song appeals to me, and is something that I advocate that the Ds begin to practice much more against the Rs, but of course the practice of it is immensely problematic and is replete with great potential for the occurrence {<--- this f'g word's spelling in all of its variations continues to drive me nuts, does anyone know of any sort of mnemonic (<-- another one) for this?} of hugely unintended consequences....

Note however that this case is not a good example of fighting fire with fire, this is just plain upholding the law.
