Other Democrats took up similar lines of criticism, pointing to Durham’s meetings with Trump’s last attorney general, William Barr, and questioning Durham on the resignation of Nora Dannehy, who reportedly stepped down from the special counsel’s team in part because of political pressure to release a report before the 2020 presidential election. Durham maintained that Barr had no involvement with his investigation and declined to comment on the reasons underlying Dannehy’s departure.

Special counsel Jack Smith has reached agreements with at least two fake GOP electors to provide them limited immunity in exchange for testifying before a grand jury investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, CNN reported Friday.

People familiar with the situation told the outlet that federal prosecutors have been trying to quickly confirm evidence on the record recently and have refused to grant extensions to subpoenas for testimony for some witnesses.

Michael Roman, a top official in former President Donald J. Trump’s 2020 campaign, is in discussions with the office of the special counsel Jack Smith that could soon lead to Mr. Roman voluntarily answering questions about a plan to create slates of pro-Trump electors in key swing states that were won by Joseph R. Biden Jr., according to a person familiar with the matter.

If Mr. Roman ends up giving the interview — known as a proffer — to prosecutors working for Mr. Smith, it would be the first known instance of cooperation by someone with direct knowledge of the so-called fake elector plan. That plan has long been at the center of Mr. Smith’s investigation into Mr. Trump’s wide-ranging efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Which is why ordinary human beings not wedded to partisan political agendas know that DJT is probably man in history to be proved innocent beyond all doubt. Trump is the subject of crude political persecution because he has been identified as a traitor to his class. His enemies are quickly transforming him into a martyr.

Five or six Secret Service agents have testified before Jan. 6 grand jury, sources say

About half a dozen Secret Service agents have testified before the grand jury that will decide whether to indict former President Donald Trump for his alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol and efforts to interfere in the peaceful transfer of the presidency, according to two sources familiar with their testimony.

Roughly five or six agents have appeared, the sources said, in compliance with subpoenas they received. It is not known what the agents’ proximity to Trump was on Jan. 6 or what information they may have provided to the grand jury.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the events of Jan. 6 is separate from his probe that led to Trump’s recent indictment in Florida for the handling of classified documents. Sources told NBC News that about 24 Secret Service agents appeared before the grand jury that considered that case in Washington before the case moved to Florida.

A number of news outlets are reporting Jack Smith has requested Trump's documents trial be delayed until December. This, so defense attorneys can get security clearances needed to review some of the pertinent documents.

 

It's possible the SS agents will be able to provide to Smith an account of the matter concerning Trump being told members of his mob had guns, and then him ordering the magnetometers be disabled to allow the mob to take their weapons closer to the Capital undetected.

 

A new Trump tape only strengthens the case against him

On Monday night, CNN published an exclusive regarding former President Donald Trump’s federal indictment: audio of him allegedly discussing and sharing a classified document with civilians.

Although much of the tape’s contents was already covered in a written transcript included in Trump’s most recent indictment, the former president’s tone and his nonchalant approach to revealing classified information only bolster allegations that he knowingly kept sensitive documents and disclosed them to others who didn’t have clearance, legal experts tell Vox.

“It’s the accused proving the case against him[self]. You kind of don’t get any more direct evidence than that,” says Abbe Smith, a Georgetown law professor and criminal defense attorney.

In the audio, Trump refers to a document he says is about attacking Iran as “secret” and “confidential,” and seemingly shows it to a writer in order to prove a point that he did not want to go to war and that other officials like General Mark Milley allegedly did.

A meeting between former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and members of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team happened at some point in recent weeks, CNN reports. The interview grew out of Smith’s investigation of the Jan. 6 higher-ups, but no more details were available.

McCarthy Scrambles To Apologize, Do Damage Control After Questioning Trump’s Strength

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) rushed to declare Donald Trump the “strongest political opponent” against President Joe Biden on Tuesday, hours after suggesting the former president might not be the “strongest” candidate to win the 2024 presidential elections.

“Trump is stronger today than he was in 2016,” McCarthy told Breitbart later Tuesday after reportedly contacting the far-right, Steve Bannon-founded news site to offer an exclusive interview.

McCarthy’s swift clean up came just hours after he said he wasn’t sure if Trump was the strongest to win the 2024 elections during a CNBC interview Tuesday morning, referring to the mounting legal troubles the former president is facing.

“Can he win that election? Yeah, he can win that election,” McCarthy said of a Biden-Trump matchup. “The question is, is he the strongest to win the election; I don’t know that answer.”

WASHINGTON — A conspiracy-minded Donald Trump supporter who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was arrested Thursday near the home of former President Barack Obama, a law enforcement official told NBC News.

Taylor Taranto, 37, who was identified by online sleuths in August 2021 and is facing a lawsuit from the widow of a Metropolitan Police Department officer who died by suicide, recently showed up at the sentencing of David Walls-Kaufman, his co-defendant in the lawsuit. The lawsuit accuses both men of being involved in an assault on MPD Officer Jeffrey Smith on Jan. 6, which they have both denied.


While Walls-Kaufman was arrested last year and has already been sentenced, Taylor had not been charged.'


In recent weeks, Taranto has been living in a van near the D.C. jailhouse, according to his social media, and has repeatedly wondered in online posts why he had not yet been arrested over Jan. 6. Taranto also posted a video of himself on YouTube inside the Capitol during the riot.

Three charged with insider trading ahead of Trump Media SPAC deal

WASHINGTON — Three Florida men were charged Thursday with insider trading of a shell company’s stock before it announced plans to merge with a social media firm launched by former President Donald Trump.

The men, Michael Shvartsman, Gerald Shvartsman and Bruce Garelick, allegedly netted more than $22 million in illicit profits from trading in shares of Digital World Acquisition Corp.

All three were arrested Thursday morning, the Justice Department said.

The Securities and Exchange Commission also filed a civil complaint against Garelick, who is a board member of DWAC, the Shvartsmans, who are brothers, and Rocket One Capital LLC, a venture capital firm owned by Michael Shvartsman.

The charges do not allege wrongdoing by Trump or any of his family members.
