I'll bet you won't find that in the tax code.

    So?
    34 Felonies?
Trump's Lawyers have a lot to work with...
Obviously, a Motion for Dismissal is the first option..

It may not be to try and arrest him it's just to try and interrupt his attempt to run for president.

It's election tampering and well the Democrats have been calling that sort of thing insurrection so this is an insurrection.

Obviously. Bragg reduces actual criminal felonies to misdemeanor and then charges an enemy of the democrat party with illegal ledger entries. Politics much? This action is disreputable but, at least, it is entertaining.

The election tampering was Trump hiding his sordid sex life from the voters via illegal hush money payments.

Trump can negotiate a plea if he wants.

Looks like Trump is actually a very stupid man. He had his lawyer pay off Stormy Daniels. His lawyer then reported this payment as income on his taxes. Trump then reimbursed his lawyer, and tried to deduct this as a business expense on his taxes. Hoping that it would be tax deductible. He also worked with tabloid newspapers to kill the story, which he worried would affect him negatively in the election.

This is tax evasion, falsified business records, falsified tax records, doing all of this to affect a federal election.

    He is definitely in trouble.

If Trump was smart he would have simply paid off Stormy Daniels and kept it quiet. But trying to deduct it as a business expense on his taxes and having his lawyer report it as legal fees on his taxes was incredibly stupid and could put his ass in prison.

They're only felonies if they concealed another crime.

Sure. He can plead guilty to 34 misdemeanors and pay a fine.

And Cohen was convicted of making an illegal campaign contribution by paying Daniels. That's some serious overlapping charged.

The problem was more that he used illegal means (false business records) to hide the fact that he did this. Committing crimes to help win an election raises those crimes to a felony in New York.

Had he just paid them directly, and called it a personal expense, he could have done the payments without an actual crime. Though I guess it would have been more likely to be discovered, in his mind, and so the whole exercise would have been for nothing.

That's not what Bragg is arguing.

You claim isn't correct. Bragg is saying the falsified were used to conceal another crime. He hasn't said what crime.

And just as I have said.

So what is this "other crime", the defendant has a right to know for what they are being charged and prosecuted for.

When used to mislead the public to win an election, I'd say so.

What was illegal about the payment and which count says that payment was illegal? I've read it have you?

Why should he when this is about as weak a case Bragg could have brought.

What is this "other crime", when was Trump convicted of this other crime? When was he even charged with it?
