The red wave didn't turn out how the Republicans had hoped.. here's my take why

You can't even tell the difference between labeling people and an insult.

That's good. SCOTUS left it to the voters in each state to pass their own laws regarding abortion. Your statement says that the voters are doing that. YAY SCOTUS!

trump was on the ballot. Just not literally.
He endorsed a lot of people and a lot of them rejected 2020 election.
People are tired of incessant whining about stolen elections that have NO merit.
Time to move on to 2020 and beyond.

 

In an historical sense of how midterms generally go, they did get blown away. But didn't get blown off the map.

 

Agree, trump was a motivator for getting dems and some independents out to vote against MAGA R's. Most of the MAGA ones had a difficult time.

 

He held rallies every week for a long time. He even held a QAnon rally.
So he was the most involved former president in an election, maybe in the history of USA.

 

Most of the people whining about the 2020 election are Democrats, who are still wallowing in Trump Derangement Syndrome. Republicans are focusing on DeSantis.

 

Obama was greatly involved too. He didn't hold rallies like Trump did, though, because Obama knew few people would attend.

 

I think frustration was taken to the polls.
It seems women and those for women's choices, those not wanting to incessantly hear about conspiracy theories of fraud elections said enough.
So, they went out and voted. And took out their frustrations.

And there likely were R's who stayed home, simple because they are frustrated at the direction the R party went for the last 2 yrs.

 

Not any more, they got to vote on their syndrome yesterday.

 

Ultimately what this thread is about is the midterms and the two major parties. The Democrats are headed by Joe Biden, even if he is not on the ballot in the midterms, he is the party's leader, and has a huge impact on the midterm elections. Likewise, Donald Trump is the leader of the Republican party.. that's how the majority of Republicans see him, and that is how the majority of Democrats and Independents see him. If you believe the head of the Republican party is someone else, then feel free to name them and give your take on how they influence the party. This isn't the Republican party of 2010 that had moved on from George W Bush, this is the Republican party of 2022.

Plainly put, the contrast in outcomes between 2010 and 2022 isn't due to Joe Biden and his Democrats being more popular than Obama and his Democrats. There are other factors at play that are influencing the outcome of our elections that this thread is attempting to address. The three major factors in my opinion are 1. Roe v Wade backlash (this being the biggest factor IMO), 2. Party leadership (again, feel free to name who you believe has the biggest influence within the GOP), and 3. Failure to properly address the people who voted in the 2020 election and win them over

In regards to 2, perhaps you feel it isn't the weakness of the Republicans, but the strength of the Democrats that's the bigger factor.. but I must disagree. I don't see the Democrats as a strong party right now

 

So, Dems are almost certain to lose the House and very will may lose the Senate, in overtime, but somehow Dems "won"?

 

And if/when the House is Repub... Dems are STOPPED.

They need to believe that because how else can Biden continue to stay the course in destroying our country unless he's convinced this was the mandate he was looking for? Don't try to figure out how they think; afterall a brain damaged, teleprompter dependent, man was elected in Pennsylvania.

I think he does, but it depends on whether Jill will let him. She already got what she wanted - a senile old man checking another thing off his bucket list.

 

Sad to say it but it's over. Despite one of the worst runs in American political history, the Democrats "won" the Senate and the governorships (which control the gerrymandering process) and gave Republicans a token win in the House so that the media can say that it was a draw. Yet it should be easy for the uniparty to peel a handful of Republicans to continue passing their agenda. What's really disturbing about this, besides the full lunar eclipse that happened the morning of the midterms, is that they appear to have improved their control over the election results as compared to 2020. I suspect that when people go digging, most of the discrepancies that were uncovered in the previous election will not be nearly so obvious this time, yet between the polls and the general state of the country it's impossible to believe that the Democrats legit won this election.

Even though they cheated again, they not only did it better this time but they allowed the other party to save face. The truth is that if you let people save face, they will almost always pick the easier option. When we combine this phenomenon with their obviously improving skill at stealing the elections, we can look forward to another decade or two of Democrat dominance, ending only if/when they get the Ruskies or Chinese to start a world war.

And yet, I am more on track with my prediction than most of the Trump supporters here who thought the DP was to be totally destroyed on November 8. If I recall, you liked those posts with the usual suspects. Just sayin.

The polls are only as accurate to how the poll was conducted. And even the exit polls were wrong and they are usually the most accurate, generally. But there is always that X factor involved and it was the independents who came out and voted in droves. In a week or so, we will have the final tally of the voter turnout and a more detailed analysis of why voters voted the way they did. If you also look at solid republican states like Montana and Nebraska, even they rejected no right to abortion. Other amendments on the ballot generally included an overwhelming approval to "decriminalize" marijuana use for less than 2 ounces. My or my, we are becoming lawless now, aren't we?
