"...It's up to the Senate to stop the attacks on women now that the House has passed legislation to defund family planning services -- shamefully wiping out federal funding for Planned Parenthood's non-abortion health care for women. And not only that but the redefinition of rape is still on the table and anti-choice Republicans are pushing a bill that would allow hospitals to let pregnant women die rather than perform life-saving abortions..."

That is scary, but I have no problem with Planned Parenthood being defunded since that is just one of many agencies that the federal government should have no role in funding.

We (via the government) can pay for birth control and sex ed OR we can pay for babies. Babies are more expensive.

I would rather pay for a baby to live than be killed. But maybe that's just me being crazy.

It is just you being crazy since that wasn't one of the alternatives. Since abortion wasn't even mentioned, it indicates you have an obsession with it. The principle services of PP are birth control and education. Defund PP, and you're gonna get a lot more babies, and more abortions too, of course.

i would rather have individuals pay for their own personal matters, it shouldnt come out of our tax dollars when they have a problem getting pregnant unless of course its from dire circumstances.

people need to be responsible for their own actions, if they dont use birth control on their own accord then getting pregnant is their problem.

That's all fine and dandy, but when a baby exists in the here and now, we (via the government) are not going to let it starve, and I hope you are not suggesting that we do. So I repeat, we can either pay for babies or birth control. Every $1 spent on family planning saves $4 on medicaid.

It's not the government's job to seize money from people that are opposed to abortion to pay for the abortions of those that could have simply used a condom.

Wrong. PP's largest source of income is abortion. End of story.

I'm sure you have some proof to back up this claim?

And by saying "source of income" you are implying that the abortions are paid for by the people getting the abortions, or by insurance, not by taxpayers. And isnt that what all the hoopla is about?

Wrong! Someone is nervous, as well they should be. You should spend more time writing your U. S. Senator on this subject, and less pontificating in the Political Forum.

Oh come on. It is to the advantage of the fetus and the Taxpayer to end an unwanted pregnancy. It prevents a child from being born to incompetent parents, and ending up on welfare roles for the next 70 years. Government funding of abortions is helpful to the poor, assures medical safety, and offers a choice to pregnant women.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Now with the fanatic we must redouble our efforts to protect a woman's right to choose, and not allow money to be the factor protecting a child from an inferior life.

Here is a link about Live Action and their tricks to cut off Planned Parenthood funding. http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/49016/anti-abortion-group-live-action-launches-okeefe-style-campaign-against-planned-parenthood/

"Anti-abortion activists from Live Action in Arizona are trying to entrap Planned Parenthood in an embarrassing scandal, much the same way James O’Keefe targeted ACORN. The organization’s efforts won’t be nearly as successful."

Sorry but I would rather live my life than be killed in the womb.

Total income for PP from health services is 36%. Abortion is 3% of PP services. Regardless of how much income PP gets from abortion, if you defund services for birth control and education, you're gonna get more babies.

False dichotomy.. You're clearly ommitting option C. There's a LONG waiting list of loving and stable families who will eagerly adopt a newborn.

Agreed.. Money should not be an issue in order to protect the innocent children who have never done anything wrong, from the inferior forms of life, that is the baby butchers, who would rather just erradicate them.

Unless the baby in question is yours, you have no voice in the matter by law.

Hey if PP isn't all about abortions, then why don't they just drop that portion of their business and keep their funding?

Oh, that is right, b/c abortion is their #1 reason for being in business.

All they got to do is drop abortions. But they can't and won't.

Can't drop your bread and butter. And anyone who cares to argue this point is either a moron or doesn't know who PP really is.

This information is twisted facts by pro-life advocates. If you are really curious check out my link in post #15.

Frankly no one cares what you think, you don't make the laws. Roe verses Wade gives the woman the right to choose. Pro-choice and Planned Parenthood are responsible and efficient alternatives to unwanted pregnancy.

Ok if that's the way you view it, nobody cares what you or anybody else on here thinks.

One terrible supreme court case decides your view on the subject? wow, what a joke. Things are a changing.

Pro-choice and PP are evil programs designed to kill unborn babies. They take taxpayer money to pay for abortions. Obama and the democrats flat out lied about that, but what else is new?

Since abortion is 100% legal in the US, there is no reason for them to drop the service.
